Heh, I wonder if he finally referred to it by name, or they just figured it out based on the obvious, too.
So "next year" as opposed to "next season"? I wonder which is more accurate?
Hasn't there been stuff saying Spring '09? That's both next year and next season. I feel like it would be unreasonable to expect it by the end of this year, considering that they still have to go out-of-town yet.
Probably similar to what he said on Sirius radio but for what it's worth:

Q: What else do you have coming up besides ‘Mermaid’?
ALAN MENKEN: Besides ‘Mermaid’? I have a musical ‘Sister Act’ opening in London next fall. And ‘Leap of Faith’ is being directed by Taylor Hackford on Broadway. It’s going to have a workshop this spring and then open the following season.
Q: They are all based on movies…
ALAN MENKEN: I don’t know why people are surprised by that. Broadway is basically an adaptation medium. It’s so much and films are a vital, important part of our culture.
Q: In ‘Leap of Faith’ is there a lot of new gospel music and are there any other styles?
ALAN MENKEN: Yes, very heavily gospel. A little bit of country and a little bit of rock and theater.
I'm just psyched about the cowboy hat.
Workshop dates from casting call:
Leap Of Faith, The Musical
Equity Chorus Call / Dancers
Workshop dates: April 14 - May 13, 2008.
New musical based on the 1992 film of the same name.
Seeking Ensemble Dancers:
Males and Females, 20s 30s, all ethnicities. Trained, athletic dancers who sing well. To play a variety of roles in the ensemble (Angels who are part of the traveling gospel choir, town locals, crew members on the tour bus, etc.) and possibly understudy principal roles.
Me too!!! Cowboy hat!!!
And the shiny jacket.
This is going to be fried gold!
For the record, I do enjoy Alan Menken's work. A lot.
They should out-of-town it in Kansas. Set up a tent just like the film. That would be all sort of amazing.
I hear January 2009 at the earliest.
Even that sounds early. Raul made it sound like this workshop was the first time they'd be getting the show up on its feet -- the last one was just a reading. I guess it will depend on how this goes.
I really hope they put him in the shiny jacket. And that the lyrics don't suck. Obviously two concerns of equivalent importance.

I thought it was like, 2010.
lol, that jacket. All he needs is a glove and he can be Michael Jackson. God help us!
I think they're actually little tiny mirrors...
I went on the New York Philharmonic site to pick up another ticket for the May 20th concert, and it is SOLD OUT! Wow.
It's been sold out for at least a week. I was surprised, too, simply because Avery Fisher Hall has like, 3,000 seats, but I guess if you factor in all of the different interested parties, it's not that crazy. Kristin Chenoweth has a rather enormous fanbase, and they hardly ever get to see her live lately. They probably all jumped at the opportunity to see something like this, for example.

Wow, that is going to be one full house.
I just got my ticket in the mail a couple days ago. I checked out the site one day and two days later went back to finaly buy the tickets, and it was almost completely sold out. Thank god I didn't wait any longer.
I can't wait!!!
(memo to self: buy binoculars)
I'm so excited. Perhaps a little bit too much so about the dress I have for it.
Yeah, I discovered that it was sold out last week when trying to decide whether I could make it. Guess...the decision was made for me.
According to an article in today's Hollywood Reporter (and elsewhere), Raúl is in talks (final talks according to one report) to play the serial killer in a new movie from Wes Craven called "25/8".
Info on the movie from IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0872230/
It's scheduled to film in and around Hartford, Connecticut, April through June.

Ooooh, movie star Raul.
p.s.: I believe A Catered Affair opens tonight. I wonder if he'll make an appearance.
Hah. I trust his judgement of credibility, but we know how I feel about Hollywood.
But yay Doyle!
I agree about Tinseltown but Raúl needs to get that pretty face preserved on celluloid, imho ;P I'm being totally selfish on this.
