Hell, Rockabye you went for the light stuff, I waited till Happy Hour and had two margaritas to celebrate!
I can't wait to listen to Murphy's "Surabaya Johnny" over and over and over AND over again. It was just such a brilliant rendition of the song.

I spoke to a cast member today who informed me it is not a complete cast recording, but merely "selections". This news saddens me.

It would have to be a 2-disc album if they recorded the whole thing, and they obviously didn't have the resources to pay for it.
Well, as much as I loved the show, there were a few songs that could have been done away with.
I just hope Judy Blazer's opening number stayed in.

Yeah, if they cut Illusion Wedding Show I would be happy.
i would love if they kept Judith's opening number as well but can understand if they only kept the Michael & Donna songs. though without David Pittu's stuff, i'd be kind of sad...
not super sad. but sad. (i think ihave an unhealthy obsession with Michael Cerveris)

I got the impression they were only doing Michael and Donna's numbers from the pictures from the recording session. It's not ideal, but it is better then nothing.
What?! Only Michael and Donna's songs????
"Tango Ballad" was one of my favorite numbers, mostly because of the choreography but it was still great acted/sung.
Oh well, I guess we'll still get "Surabaya Johnny," "Speak Low," and "It Never Was You." I was hoping to get "Alabama Song" with some of Pittu's dialogue. Here's hoping for a booklet with lyrics because I didn't understand some of the lyrics to a few songs.
Anyone have any information on a release date?
They should release, on CD, the 2 LP Berlin To Broadway of years back
Rockabye, the BWW photos of the recording session are misleading. I believe the full cast was there to record.

The full cast was there that day, they obviously just didn't photograph them.
Now, if we could just get a release date.
Something deep inside me says this will go the way of Lestat.
Also who the **** stretched the tables?

It's not going the way of Lestat.
Sure.
I want it to, though.
...
I'm hoping for some kind of Sept/Oct release but I also fear it may go the way of LESTAT. Then again HIGH FIDELITY was released, I refuse to believe that a mediocre show with no stars can get a cast recording and LOVEMUSIK can't.
Hal Prince just IMed me on iChat! If whoever the hell it was that stretched the tables of this thread doesn't fix it w/in 24 hours he won't be releasing the LM OBCR.

I have tried to watch this show through *other* means, but I can't get through it. It is just boring, and a little too dense. I guess, I just don't think its accesible to a mainstream crowd, but maybe it's not suppose to be. I don't know anything about the main couple, so maybe that's why.
The show was exhilarating at the theatre with some dull moments that were either plain boring, hard to understand because of the accents, or made no sense (the second wedding scene comes to mind).
As it stood the show felt like a brilliant out-of-town try-out.
Still, the performances and the music made it one of the best experiences I've had at the theatre. Donna Murphy's "Alabama Song" took my breath away, and David Pittu's Brecht was fantastic to watch.
It was definitely not for everyone which I think it's a good thing. It's unique, daring, and at its best, a soaring and exciting piece that featured genius performances all throughout.

i still believe that if they'd cut half an hour (preferably BUDDY ON THE NIGHT SHIFT and THE ILLUSION WEDDING number) it wouldve been a ***GREAT*** show!!!!
The stretching is that big old long amazon.com link! GRRR!
