Actually, the fact is that the female/female love was expanded on the poster - if you go back to the original BW poster, Angel and Collins are not holding hands - and neither are Joann/Maureen.
Here is a link to the original poster - on sale at Ebay (and I am not selling it). 1996 Rent Poster
Art2, In the stage production Collins and Angel only kiss while Angel is in Drag, therefore why make a change in the movie? If they do then that's great and if they don't the who cares, it's the way its always been. In the stage production's Posters we see no affection between these two characters and the advertising for the movie is based on the original advertising, so why expect it for the movie? Maybe you haven't seen all of the trailers/TV spots yet, but in many of them the theme of homosexuality is quite visible. All though the depiction of gay characters in movies can sometimes suck, i think you picked a very poor example with this movie. RENT is a celebration of love in all it's forms and after you see it, and i really hope you do see it, i'm sure you will need something to wash down that foot in your mouth. We have pleanty of confirmation from many people involved in the project that suggest that this film stays very true to Larson's vision. We see angel out of drag or at least half out of drag far more frequently in the movie than we do on stage, and with the I'll Cover You reprise i think it is quite obvious that they are not taking away from the pure emotion involved in this homosexual relationship. I'm really not sure That I understand what you are looking for here. Are you saying you would change the original production as well as a movie that you have not yet seen? Are you looking for nudity and soft core porn? Or are you really not sure what you are looking for and just hoped that you had found your cause for this week? Lashing out against one of the two mainstream movies of this year that show homosexual relationships in a very real, heartfelt way does not seem to be a very progerssive way to show the united states that there is nothing wrong with being gay. I am also a little disapointed that you seem to feel that gay drag queens do not deserve the same fair representation as non-drag gays do. It seems you are taking away from them the very thing you feel sony is taking away from you. Either that is the case, or you really aren't very good at speaking out exactly what you are shooting for here. To everyone else, I'm sorry for bumping this thread up, I just wanted to add my two cents.
How in the hell can a movie poster diminish gay love? (stop typing, it was rhetorical)
You must have to beat the ladies off with a stick. All that misguided incorrect thinking and you're patronizing to boot. ::swoon:: Updated On: 11/3/05 at 06:57 PM
I have my "Pro-Rent Blinkers" on. But it's cold here. I can't help it.
And just for the record, Art...There is more male/male romance in the movie than in the stage show. There is more dressed like a male/dressed like a male romance than the stage show. Why are you still complaining?
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
Raphael? Really? I thought he was the least gay of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I definitely agree with you on Donatello, but I would have picked Michelangelo as number 2. He always seemed to end up in drag and was definitely the most effeminate after Donatello.

Rafael was very gay. That "macho" persona that he always showed was just Splinter's libido liberal principles putting Raphael through the anti-gay shredder.
Jeez, orangeskittles - you don't know ANYTHING. Take off your TMNT blinders! Updated On: 11/3/05 at 10:34 PM
*** Opens mouth - tries to speak, then does not know quite what to say, and wishes Art2 had posted something, because at least then I know how to respond. ****
EDIT - closed - was just so speechless could not even spell!

JerseyGirl, I'm a she. And Michelangelo seemed to be dumb surfer-ish on the surface, but so many times he would lapse into the comical effeminate gay personality that I can't disregard it.
I can't believe we made YWIW speechless. Wow.

That was almost as bad as listening to Air America this evening and listening to bad semi-porno segments from Bill O'Reilly's book. That alone was enough to make me hurl.
But, TMNT bestiality . . . even I need another glass of wine to contemplate.
First the Teletubbies and TMNT - next you are going to tell me Davey and Goalith (the dog) and something going on, and Gumby was get the business from Pokey (which actually makes sense . . .) Updated On: 11/3/05 at 11:05 PM
So Patronus's Rapheal-love makes you adore him, but mine causes you to start drinking? *sniff* I'm hurt. Is this discrimination for not being a P-member?

No, I was already drinking when this started. So, you just helped me along the way (herniated disc, and my pain medication refill got screwed up - thank god for Red Wine).
