Oh, there was so much more to that set that the simple design.

First, the thrust stage that went out into the audience and was surrounded by small tables. You were at times less than 2 feet from the actors on it. Secondly, how can ANYONE forget when at the end of the play the entire rear wall rose to reveal that blinding beaming white light engulfing the entire Studio 54.

What an amazing production. Probably the most memorable show I've seen to date.

There is a Cabaret hard bound book, chock full of a bunch of pictures that (I believe) Rivka Katvan took. That should give you a bit of an idea.

Unfortunately, that CABARET book just contains productions photos and none of the photos showcases ANY of the scenic design whatsoever. They are just close-ups of the cast and one slim/narrow strip photo that PARTIALLY shows some of the tables at Studio 54 -- you don't see the rest of the theatre, just a few tables.

Just thinking about the set from that production makes me miss it. Definitely one of my best theatre experiences of all time.

There is a picture of the set model, so you can get a better idea of the set on stage.
