Cincinnati: Beauty And The Beast Sep 27-Oct 9, 2011 Wicked Nov 2-26, 2011 Billy Elliot Jan 18- 29, 2012 West Side Story Feb 28-Mar 11, 2012 Addams Family Mar 27-Apr 8, 2012 Memphis May 1-6, 2012 ??? - NOT Memphis, Mamma Mia AGAIN! Les Miserables May 8-13, 2012
This season is a plea to get season ticket holders back. Down 33%. Other than Billy, West Side, & Addams Family this season is no good. The other show's should be add-ons not part of the main season. My love-hate relationship w/BAA - Cincy continues. I hope Columbus does better over all. If not I'll be driving to Cleveland (again) to see the newest tours.
Wow, that Cincy season IS lame. Everything they have (other than ADDAMS) is all stuff Cleveland had this year. Just proving that Cleveland's PlayhouseSquare is where my money will be going yet again. They announce their season in March, can't wait to see what they get!

I think that just shows that Gina Vernaci actually does try to balance out what she knows will sell with what she knows the audiences want with what she herself would like to see. It also shows that remaining independent and not joining BAA is definitely the way to go in terms of really being able to diversify your season.
I have to thank Playhouse Square for the nice range of tours, as well as concert acts, opera, and dance, I was able to see during my high school and college years in Cleveland.
Do you know, do the local cities in BAA (ie:Cincy) have much of a say in what they present? Or does BAA tell them what they should or will present?
Back to the season I'm sure the average theatre goer may love this season esp. people with kids. But will they buy season tix's or just the shows they want to see. IMO they are turning off true season ticket holders because we have seen all but 3 shows many times over.
9/10 - Next To Normal, Ensemble Theatre 9/18 - Brian Stokes Mitchell, Cincy Pop's 9/28 - Death Of A Salesman, Wright State
Cleveland's seasons are pretty much always amazing, unless there aren't any good shows touring at all. And they do very well...I just saw the South Pacific tour there this past Saturday night and it was basically totally sold out.
