It all sounds so rosy at first-- until you get to the last sentence:
"But a return date for Los Angeles County remains in doubt, as it has struggled to control the spread of the coronavirus more than other areas, according to the Times."
Waaa-- waaa-- waaaaa.....
The Disney feature I was prepping on until the shutdown in March is still on hold at least until July, when the bosses hope the LA Covid numbers will improve enough to get the band back together.
Yeah, I work at one of the major streaming services and all conversations about resuming production have so far pointed to early / mid august - and that's being optimistic. There's no way any major productions in LA Country are gonna be resuming this week. Just trying to get insurance alone would be a nightmare.

A lot of shows and TV movies are filmed in Canada as well so another major issue is that the border is still closed until June 21 at earliest. I know they got an exception for professional athletes recently so I guess they could get one for tv/film productions if needed. But this is definitely going to impact Fall tv season and likely tv Christmas movies as well.

The majority of the Hallmark movies and tv series are filmed in Canada these days. If you look at the casting, there are usually a ton of Canadian actors involved, even if they live in the US.
I think the Lifetime Christmas movies may be the ones filmed in the US.
Oh interesting. I wonder if filming is happening in Canada, then. Because I’m a Hallmark Christmas movie whore and the thought of not having any new ones this year makes me damn sad.
Jordon I Love You. I wish you were my neighbor. My favorite Broadway show was Side Man and I cannot get enough of Hallmark movies....The funny thing is that I have probably crossed paths with you......but I have no idea who you are...

I read your Broadway World profile. Falco gave one of the most visceral performances I have ever witnessed and I have never forgotten it.
And in terms of the Hallmark movies, they use some extremely handsome men in lead roles. If I had my life to live over again, I would have spent some time in Canada because the actors that come from there are so gorgeous!
And just a little trivia. The man who started Hallmark, Joyce C. Hall, is from my hometown in Nebraska.
Well.in THEORY the film industry in Ontario can reopen next week. Subject to social distancing. And there lies the rub. How do u social distance on a set esp a small set? ( think about shooting in an elevator set w camera plus the cable puller the boom operator and the cast) and PLUS most of the big studio space is located in TO itself and they are NOT open.
Looks good but not feasable. I suspect Mid July end of August some of the social distancing isolation protocols may have been addressed and ready to put in place.
