We're going to Mrs Doubtfire in December and I was wondering if orchestra far right or far left is better views for the staging. Would anyone be able to provide insight?
There is seldom a big difference between one extreme side of the house vs the other. (Sure, it could happen, but it's unlikely to yield a great difference.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
For this show, I'd pick far left over far right as the kitchen part of the house set is located on stage left (house right). I sat far right last March and couldn't see most of that set (the actors, yes, but the scenery, no). If you can, the mezzanine at the Sondheim also has great views and you'd be able to appreciate David Korins' design a little more.
I sat in the front row on the far right for one of their dress rehearsals last March and had no sight issues.
