I agree with you. No thanks.

Overall an underwhelming season. Getting burnt out on The Little Mermaid. The last time they did Dreamgirls they featured a 52-year-old Jennifer Holliday so hopefully this time they choose a more appropriate actress.

Well, at least I won't need to worry about the humidity and heat next summer.

I mean, the reactions on social media seem to be a lot more positive than last year's lineup.

They do a Disney show every year at this point, and for obvious reasons, it gets more kids in the door than any other show, and they're able to sell 2 extra shows worth of tickets because of demand. Little Mermaid was up next in the Disney rotation, so I was predicting it'd be in the lineup.

Fiddler is the main one I feel could have been saved for a few years from now. It's always done well at the Muny, so I'll probably still catch it.

Waitress/In the Heights are exciting Muny debuts, especially since it's the regional premiere of Waitress.

I hope they're not doing a Disney show every year - there aren't nearly enough of them! I would have been OK with Tarzan (last performed 2014). They last did Shrek in 2013 but it wasn't the kids' show, although I don't see why it couldn't be.

The Muny tries to cater to the broadest audience. It has to, due to its size. I get that. Last year's lineup made me think that they were trying to be a little riskier, and I was hoping for more of that. Maybe they decided it didn't pay off for them financially.

I looked at the show survey re: some of shows I'd like to see and compared to the Muny archive:

Never performed at the Muny: A Little Night Music, Bridges of Madison County, Sunset Boulevard, The Drowsy Chaperone, Once on This Island, She Loves Me, Secret Garden

Performed (including last performed): Cabaret (1971, with Joel Grey), Man of La Mancha (1995, with John Cullum), Evita (2001), Follies (1972 - Broadway production which closed the week before), Carousel (198The Muny's 106th Season will present WAITRESS, HEIGHTS, and more in 2024, Pippin (1986, with Ben Vereen), La Cage aux Folles (1986).

I've seen most of these shows on the survey year after year and it just seems a shame to repeat shows performed in the last decade(-ish) when these are out there. But I can tell from the Facebook comments on the hints posted that many people would be happy to see their favorite show every stinkin' year.
