Dancing Through Life / Wicked
Ah Sweet Mystery of Life / Thoroughly Modern Millie
It's a Woman's World / The Full Monty

"Ah Sweet Mystery of Life" is one of the most famous songs of it's time period. It doesn't come anywhere close to being a "bad" song and is perfect for the comic effect it provides in TMM.
I agree about
Sentimental Man/ Wicked
And:
Da-Doo/ LSOH
I Should Tell You/ Rent (please don't jump on my, lol)
I Should Tell You~RENT
Only In New York (Flame me, I don't care)~TMM
Bring Him Home (again, flame me I won't respond)~LES MIS
Wonderful~WICKED
Another Pyramid~AIDA

omg I can't believe you don't like Only in New York...there will be no flaming though...I promise!
ummm I have to agree with Wonderful and Sentimental man from Wicked
Ah Sweet Mystery of Life-TMM, the only song I always skip...but it's not even originally from Millie so I'm not blaming the show
Golden Helmet of Mambrino and Knight of Woeful countenance - Man of La Mancha
In old Bavaria-The Producers
So What-Cabaret...luvtheemcee don't kill me!!
W_E: good call with So What? - Cabaret, that's the weakest song in the show.
Jake: I can't believe you don't like It's A Woman's World! It's lovely and belty!!
I definitely agree with the weak Wicked songs (DTL, Wonderful, Sentimental Man, - One Short Day is bad too)
Rita's Tune - Sweet Smell of Success (I just hate the song's existence in the show)
leo, I have to agree with you on Rita's Tune. When I saw the show, and she started singing, I said, "she's had about 3 lines so far and she gets a song!" I like Stacey Logan, but the song came out of no where and you never really see her character again! I really like "Ah, Sweet Mystery..." It's classic Victor Herbert/operetta, and it works so well when you are watching TMM. I agree though, on the recording, not my favorite. I love how Madeline Kahn uses it in Young Frankenstein too. Makes me laugh.
Turkey Lurkey Time - Promises, Promises
Telephone Song - Cabaret (thank god it's not always used)
this thread really proves the differences in opinions on this board- i love "nobody needs to know", "rent", and "bring him home", but i wont flame- just had to give these songs a little love.
that said, i hate "one short day" from wicked, and also dont like "its just the gas" from little shop, and "id give my life for you" from miss siagon
I agree with It's Just The Gas, but I like the "Now" part of the song, just because I hate Orin in general
im in lsoh right now and doing the orin scenes gives me the creeps (im seymour)
nystateofmind- I agree- the song "RENT" from RENT is amazing, but everyone has their own opinions!
Learn Your Lessons Well- Godspell
So What- Cabaret
Sentimental Man- Wicked
Wicked_Elphie, I won't kill you. Actually, I think that's definitely the weakest song it the show. The first time I saw the show, I was like "what they hell is this? It's so boring."
hmm...
I'm not a big fan of The Tango Maureen.
Sentimental Man
Oh Sweet Mystery of Love from Millie (That is the name of it, right?)
How I Know You from Aida
Many a New Day from Oklahoma!
and An Ordinary Couple from The Sound of Music
Any of the Wizard's songs in Wicked
Bring Him Home from Les Miserables
Without You from RENT
Big Man on Mulberry Street from Movin' Out (I don't even care if that isn't what the song is called... I hate it!)
I know there's more!

like father like son - aida
good ole girl - best little whorehouse in texas
begat - finian's rainbow
i huckleberry me - big river
those canaan days - joseph
annie - annie
I'm just spedin' love today. I love every song that's been listed. Especially the Wizard's songs in WICKED. "Sentimental Man" is short, sweet and could be belted around with which makes it a perfect audition song for me. C'mon if Idina sang it you'd all say it's the best song in the show.
A SENTIMENTAL GIRL
I am a sentimental girl.
Who always longed to be normal.
Which is why I do the best I can
to treat each citizen of Oz really horrible.
And so Miss Morible I'd like to go up high.
Cuz' I think everyone deserves a chance to fly!
And helping me with my assent allows me to feel
so intellectual.
For I am a sentimental girl....
hehe. That was totally off the top of my head....

Last Midnight? Bad? How can you like Into the Woods and not like that song? It's one of the greatest 11 o'clock numbers ever written.
I thought "No One is Alone" was the 11 o'clock number....?
Now dont stone me because i dont know this but "11 oclock number?" (whispers).... whats that?
luvtheemcee-I'm glad you're ok with it...I was a little worried. Oh and the name of that song is "Ah sweet mystery of life" but it's ok!
Little Lamb - Gypsy
One Hand One Heart - West Side Story
Traditionally the 11 o'clock number is the big huge sing to the rafters make em' stand on their feet number that occurs near the end of the show, but is not the finale. For instance "Rose's Turn" from gypsy, "Betrayed" from the Producers, or "Gimmie, Gimmie" from Millie. Some shows also settle for 11 o'clock numbers that are a little more subtle like "Distant Melody" from Peter Pan. Although some argue that "Hook's Waltz" is the real 11 o'clock number for that one. The controversy drags on. And then some shows just don't have one at all... Updated On: 4/17/04 at 07:27 PM

I love Last Midnight- it's absolutely perfect for the situation and character. If there's a song I really don't like in Into the Woods, it's On the Steps of the Palace.
