I am so upset! My theater studio is doing a High School Musical medley for competition. What has it resorted to?

At least it gave you the opportunity to start a thread about it.
It will get worse. Who knows? Maybe next year it will be the school musical. dun dun dun...
You poor poor baby. My deapest symathy goes out to you.
I was informed today that my school can't afford to get the rights to HSM. I guess having a nearly broke drama department can be good at times.
I find it amusing that people keep saying that their school is doing the show or that rights are too expensive for them to do it, etc. Unless I am missing something I don't know how a school is getting quoted royalties on HSM let alone say they are doing the show as has been mentioned in previous threads.
MTI does indeed have the rights and anticipate taking license requests sometime in the Fall....but according to my area rep at MTI they are NOT quoting fees or issuing performance licenses at this time.
