Just noticing with the revival of the Fantasticks and 110 that he has been absent from the scene. One of the nicest men I have ever met in the theater. Anyone know?

I think Tom Jones mentioned in that backstage tour feature that he is living in Texas.

It was mentioned in Harry Haun's 110 article that Schmidt had an anyuerism and was in intensive care at a Texas hospital.

That is sad news indeed ... he is one of kindest, gentlest, talented men in the world. Prior to his illness, he had officially retired to his hometown in Texas.

About a year and a half ago, when the York did their tightrope musical, he was not physically able to come to NY, they had a note on the wall as part of the show materials where he said, i think, that travelling wasn't something he'd be able to do any more, iirc.
I would love to see Grovers Corners make it to Broadway
A revival of Philomon would be great also. Jones & Schmidt do not really get the respect they should which is a shame. One of the greatest songwriting duos that ever came down the pike.
