I find the possibility of a giant comet striking the earth and causing catastrophes of biblical proportion far more believable than Danny Glover portraying the President of the US.
As for the biblical catastrophes, I watched a program on one of my 472 cable channels last night they put forth the proposition that a comet strike caused the Great Flood story that is common to many civilizations from different parts of the globe. Based on the current science and technology, if a giant comet were to strike earth, we'd have a few months notice, and there would be absolutely nothing we could do to stop it. If this movie doesn't stray one bit from the scientific/theoretical program I watched last night, it would make for a chilling movie.

Saw the trailer before the Potter movie. I don't go to the movies much anymore but this one might get me back into a theater when it opens. I am sure it will be all about the special effects and not the acting or script. But sometimes it is fun just to grab a bucket of popcorn (In my case pretzel bits with cheese!) sit back and just enjoy it for the special effects. And I am not sure if it was this movie of that other one with the guy taking the elevator to the top of the Empire State building, but the music really caught my attention in the trailer.
I feel like it is a hidden message and the government told producers to make this movie to warn people haha.
I actually am scared though.
Not about that, about the world ending.
But at least for me, I think its stupid to predict an EXACT date of when the Earth is going to blow up or whatever.
Oh, but I'm also scared about Palin.
The Empire State Building trailer was for Percy Johnson and the Olympians or whatever the title is.
When I saw this preview, I wondered why the movie wasn't coming out on December 21, 2012 for maximum effect. Then it occured to me that as people probably won't be going to the movies if the world does end that day.
I've always been in the camp that believes 12-21-2012 is just the restart date for the Mayan calendar. I've never been a fan of apocalyptic scenarios. I hope to be long gone before that happens.

I remember when I was younger there was a special on tv about the world ending according to some ancient calendar or other in 2000. I didn't really believe it then and I don't believe it now.
Seriously, maybe the Mayans just got tired of counting.
Gotta get me a T-shirt.

The End is Near
There's a documentary about the reality of 2012 on YouTube.
With not only the Mayan prophecy, but the 'Web Bots', the I Ching, Roman Oracles, John someone, Merlin (yes, Merlin) and some crazy lady living in the North of England centuries ago. All predicting some major **** going down.
Most of it was just rubbish. But, it's interesting that the I Ching and the Mayan calendar both end on the 21st December 2012. Of course, there could be many reasons for that...but interesting all the same.
The 'Web Bots' thing was interesting too. They claim that this internet/computer software, which was created to aid financing investments, has pin pointed certain events by searching the internet and picking up tiny bits of information to 'predict' what is likely to happen at certain points. 9/11, Katrina, Earthquakes, Tsunami, Anthrax attack etc. all have been supposedly predicted by it and it says that catastrophes will build up to a climax in 2012.
Of course, they fail to mention all the times it was wrong...and when it gets it 'right' they didn't follow up with any evidence, but the concept makes an interesting film at least.
Anyways, crazy stuff aside, this film looks epic and I can't wait! Shame about the casting though...
