My love for Jude Law makes me believe that ALFIE was an amazing movie. I can't help it.

Jude Law needs to come back to Broadway and get naked.

They forgot the ultimate remake fiasco: THE VANISHING with the heroic, happy ending. All the more incomprehensible because it was done by the original director.

Come to think of it, when was the last time a remake was "really good?"

I was astounded by how much I liked the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake and THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR (1999) was better than the original. Neil Jordan's THE GOOD THIEF was a great remake of BOB LE FLAMBEUR.

I didn't even see it, but I feel pretty safe in guessing that "Willard" was on the short list for this designation.

I'm one of the ten or so people who actually enjoyed the Psycho remake. I understand why it irks so many people, but I thought it was fine, for what it was.

1994's Love Affair should be on the list.

no! bad producer! don't do that! (hits with rolled newspaper)

I don't think "The Out of Towners" should be that high on the list. Sure it wasn't Jack Lemon and Sandy Dennis, but it wasn't horrible.

Honestly, neither was THE TRUTH ABOUT CHARLIE, which at least tried to be a good movie.

The only two I've seen on the list is "The Ring 2" and "Meet Joe Black." No arguments with the former, but I didn't think "Meet Joe Black" was that terrible. It wasn't good, by any means, but at least it was unintentionally funny in Brad Pitt's death scene.

Borstal - I'm totally with you re: The Vanishing, which no one seems to know much about. I loved the original movie, and the American remake was a travesty.

Although they're not necessarily remakes I would add The Honeymoners and The Dukes of Hazzard.

Poseidon should be much higher on the list. Not only was there a horrible big screen remake, but an even more horrible TV remake.

I actually liked MEET JOE BLACK and kind of liked ALFIE, if only because it had two of my favorite actresses: Jane Krakowski (who was pretty fabulous in her two short scenes) and Marissa Tomei. I have never seen the original but I enjoyed it for what it was. Now, THE PLANET OF THE APES re-make definitely deserves to be on that list, what an AWFUL movie.
