Posted: 12/13/07 at 9:15amThey forgot the ultimate remake fiasco: THE VANISHING with the heroic, happy ending. All the more incomprehensible because it was done by the original director.

EEKK!

Posted: 12/13/07 at 11:10amI was astounded by how much I liked the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake and THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR (1999) was better than the original. Neil Jordan's THE GOOD THIEF was a great remake of BOB LE FLAMBEUR.

Posted: 12/13/07 at 1:52pmI didn't even see it, but I feel pretty safe in guessing that "Willard" was on the short list for this designation.

I'm one of the ten or so people who actually enjoyed the Psycho remake. I understand why it irks so many people, but I thought it was fine, for what it was.
1994's Love Affair should be on the list.

I want to personally slap who ever thought it would be a good idea to remake footloose with zac efron
no! bad producer! don't do that! (hits with rolled newspaper)

Ah they missed The Omen! No one can out do Gregory Peck! The remake made me realize what a great film the first one was!

Posted: 12/13/07 at 3:34pmI don't think "The Out of Towners" should be that high on the list. Sure it wasn't Jack Lemon and Sandy Dennis, but it wasn't horrible.

Posted: 12/13/07 at 3:37pmHonestly, neither was THE TRUTH ABOUT CHARLIE, which at least tried to be a good movie.
#19re: 25 worst remakes of all time
Posted: 12/13/07 at 3:41pmThe only two I've seen on the list is "The Ring 2" and "Meet Joe Black." No arguments with the former, but I didn't think "Meet Joe Black" was that terrible. It wasn't good, by any means, but at least it was unintentionally funny in Brad Pitt's death scene.

Posted: 12/13/07 at 3:55pmBorstal - I'm totally with you re: The Vanishing, which no one seems to know much about. I loved the original movie, and the American remake was a travesty.

Posted: 12/14/07 at 4:31amPoseidon should be much higher on the list. Not only was there a horrible big screen remake, but an even more horrible TV remake.

Posted: 12/14/07 at 6:36amI actually liked MEET JOE BLACK and kind of liked ALFIE, if only because it had two of my favorite actresses: Jane Krakowski (who was pretty fabulous in her two short scenes) and Marissa Tomei. I have never seen the original but I enjoyed it for what it was. Now, THE PLANET OF THE APES re-make definitely deserves to be on that list, what an AWFUL movie.
