Songanddance, did you miss the FIRST WORD of my post where i said it was HORRIBLE what happened?

I dont think there is anything wrong with bringing up the fact that these horrible things happen here in USA as well. To ignore that graph by GLAAD that says these crimes are way up in USA is dangerous. the word should get out that this doesnt just happen in a land far far away.

Also it is predudiced to say that the actions of a few show the whole country is filled with HATE which you can see on any thread with the word RUSSIA in it. On this very thread you can see posts by SNAFU, LIZASHEADBAND saying this. Isnt that the definition of stereotype? I wonder how these very people would react if someone stereotyped their ethnic, gender or anything else. Not well i bet.

Except that we ARE judged by the actions, decisions, etc., of Reagan...and Bush...and Truman...and JFK...and Clinton...and any other individual who has served as the President of the United States of America. Because they represent our country on a global scale. That was a terrible comparison.

Those things are in the past and now cannot be erased from our nation's history. And, shockingly, those things were not all widely supported by the population- and happened in incredibly different historical contexts.

Russia is NOW. The laws are supported, willingly, by the people, many of whom cheerfully upload their videos and share them.

As you all know, I make it a rule not to respond to the troll's post, but I'd like each of you to make note of the fact that this is an outright lie. I typed exactly 14 words on the subject, none of which said anything resembling her assertion.

If she wants to defend the actions of these people and of the government that allows it, she's welcome to. But she's not allowed to put words in my mouth, and I will be reporting it as abuse.

Reggie, you said it was sanctioned by the Govt....what i feel you are saying here is that the govt sanctioned or gave its approval or even encouraged it. i do not agree that is so, but i do feel i shouldnt have included you in that statement with LIZAHEADBAND and SNAFU about how horrible the russian PEOPLE so i really apologize for that and have edited you out.

It Is about the LAWS they have passed in this day an age, a law that apparently the MAJORITY of people in that country agree. All countries have bad things in the PAST before the world became a more civilised place (ignoring the middle east), Russia are acting like its 50 years ago, that's what makes that country disgusting.
