Posted: 10/17/09 at 2:01pmWell, it worked, didn't it? If publicity is what these people want--and if they've stooped to these craven tactics in order to get it--let's not give it to them, all right?

Posted: 10/17/09 at 2:21pmSo are they going to get a movie and book deal out of this?

If ANYONE signs these people to ANY deal becuae of this, I will write letters and complain loudly.
It's obvious this is a family of media whores.

Posted: 10/17/09 at 3:44pmYeah, I don't think I will want to watch another rerun of Wife Swap if they are on. Or if they end up on it again because they're so weird. They don't deserve anything good.

Posted: 10/17/09 at 6:42pmI've been out all day so I haven't seen any of this. So really, this was originally an idea for a reality show? And they thought they would get away with it?

Posted: 10/17/09 at 7:07pmI saw a clip on "The Soup" last night from the family's appearance of Wife Swap. Truly crazy family. When the new mom told them the rules, one of the kids (don't know if it's Falcon or not) said "f*** these rules!".

WOW- well, so here's the part where I might be eating my words re: lack of charges...
Authorities in Colorado say criminal charges are expected to be filed against a storm-chasing father whose giant Mylar balloon ascended into the sky earlier this week -- sparking fears that his 6-year-old was aboard.
"We anticipate criminal charges will be filed sometime in the near future," Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden told CNN.

Finally! I hope those charges go somewhere, it's truly pathetic of what they did.
I was starting to have a little sympathy for the family again, and then I heard the father was shopping around the idea of a reality show to TLC. That made me hate him even more.

Damn. It sounds like it's going to get ugly. I posted the link to the Sheriff's press conference. He can't go so far as to say it's a hoax, but essentially tells the media to go ahead and read into what he's saying. Poor kids.

It's sickening just how much some people desperately crave the spotlight. They want that 15 minutes at ANY cost. Nothing is sacred to them if they can be FAMOUS.
If I see Jonathan Gosselin's bloated face on my tv one more time, I'll puke.

I was waiting to pick up my husband at the Denver airport when this was all playing out the other day. They even shut the place down briefly.
I also saw (in the Denver paper) that the the wheat crop is ruined on the farm when the balloon landed..from all the rescue vehicles, etc. They said it will be two years before they can harvest a crop on that land.
So much of a ripple effect from a publicity stunt. It's just not right,

I'm glad to see that this won't go without consequences.
Does anyone else think that the mother had no idea that it was planned?

Posted: 10/18/09 at 10:45amIt's possible that they did the launch as a publicity stunt, but that the kid going missing was unplanned. Doesn't really make it any less obnoxious, but it would explain a lot.

Hey Iflit--, I was in the Denver airport on layover Thursday.
And I was at the newsstand too.
Did you see the headline where local celeb Picaboo Street was donating a half-million bucks to the Denver Med Center Intensive Care Unit???
They are gonna name it the Picaboo I.C.U.
