The case of Valerie Plame being outed and the name of the lying contractor are in no way similar. You can tell that because Republicans want to punish someone in this case.

Wow all I heard for years was how Val was outed by a vindictive administration.

I guess now that its Obamas administration the story needs to change to protect him.

Really? You were 10 years old in Russia and people were telling you Valerie Plame was outed by a vindictive administration? Wow. They got that right on- did they tell you what happened to those people? What their punishment was for putting a covert agent of the CIA in harms way?

That source, a security contractor named Dylan Davies, went on "60 Minutes" under the pseudonym Morgan Jones and said he was at the diplomatic compound in Benghazi on the night of Sept. 11, 2011. But as the Washington Post revealed last week, Davies had previously submitted an incident report to his superior in which he stated he was nowhere near the attack."

In THIS case a guy who worked for a security company in Benghazi wanted to write a book so he made up a SUE-donym (a Nom de Plume if you will) then went on National TV to promote his book by telling a lie about what he saw. The Washington Post called other employees of the security company (not Barack Obama) who said "oh yeah- that guy on 60 minutes- that's Dylan Davies." Davies no longer works for the company, is in no danger by the revelation and was never under cover (except to sell his book).

Ms. Logan, who said she spent about a year investigating the Benghazi attacks for “60 Minutes,” attributed the critical response to the report to the intense political warfare that has surrounded the episode. “We worked on this for a year. We killed ourselves not to allow politics into this report,” she said.

How is it that CBS neglected to mention that the book by this contractor is being published by the CBS subsidiary ? This report was nothing more than a commercial for the book.

And then there's that as well.

For those of you not familiar with Lara Logan's career, she's the wife of a military contractor who's been accused of being "in bed with" the military (a charge that is obviously literally true) and unable to be an impartial witness to the news.

She's also been outspoken in her criticism of the Obama administration and has said she hoped the US would "exact revenge" for the 2012 Benghazi attack.

What lie did I tell, comrade? Perhaps "lie" means something different in your language?

Here's a good take on a speech I attended that I would describe as an anti-Obama screed from a journalist who's delighted that ms Logan doesn't obey the rules and isn't afraid to be"part of the story." :

“There is this narrative coming out of Washington for the last two years,” Logan said. It is driven in part by “Taliban apologists,” who claim “they are just the poor moderate, gentler, kinder Taliban,” she added sarcastically. “It’s such nonsense!”

Logan stepped way out of the “objective,” journalistic role. The audience was riveted as she told of plowing through reams of documents, and interviewing John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan; Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and a Taliban commander trained by al-Qaida. The Taliban and al-Qaida are teaming up and recruiting new terrorists to do us deadly harm, she reports.

She made a passionate case that our government is downplaying the strength of our enemies in Afghanistan and Pakistan, as a rationale of getting us out of the longest war. We have been lulled into believing that the perils are in the past: “You’re not listening to what the people who are fighting you say about this fight. In your arrogance, you think you write the script.” "

Wow. So a respected journalist from a respected news organization has suggested that we take a closer look at the war machine. You were around when johnson was Prez. Did u criticize cronkite too?

I never thought I would ever see a journalist criticized for that on BWW. I can bet that didn't happen in B.O. (brfore obama) times

Joe did give a source. It's in the link at the bottom of his post. And obviously you did not understand Lara Logan's report if you think it's about "war machine". I know, I know, you no speak no English. But then, I am sure you did not watch the 60 minutes report either and only parrot what you've heard on Fox.

Yeah it's just one of a few dozen stories where you definitely see she has an axe to grind. I'd put her more in the "activist" than "Journalist" camp. And I am not saying journalists shouldn't have opinions but they need to be factored into the equation.

Sue I was only 6 years old when Cronkite did his report on Vietnam so I have no memory of the event. I probably watched Bewitched instead of the CBS Special Report. Why don't you tell me what happened? Did he make stuff up, too?

Did they have CBS in your village in Russia? How old were you when this went down in 1968?
