I can’t find it on YouTube . Only the trailer . On Disney+ in Europe but not here. It’s the only nominated short I can’t find. Anyone have any ideas?

When it was available in the US, it was only available on Attitude’s YouTube channel. Sadly: "It is available to watch on our YouTube page until 5 March 2026."
This website indicates it is currently unavailable for streaming anywhere in the US. Since it's on Disney+ in the UK, I'm sure it will also be available on Disney+/hulu in the US, but only after the Oscars. ![]()
PS: If you don't want to give up hope, you might persistently search the following: "where to stream a friend of dorothy" (without the quotes).
When I searched, "when will A Friend of Dorothy be available to stream in the US" I got the following AI response: "Currently, "A Friend of Dorothy" is available for streaming on Disney+ in the UK and Europe, but there is no specific information on when it will be available in the US. Keep an eye on Disney+ for updates regarding its release in your region."

Do you share Miriam's views on the Palestine genocide?

I love her also. And her appearances on The Graham Norton Show are always a riot.

Well...
I was able to watch this morning via VPN and my Disney+/hulu account. I logged into my VPN and chose, "United Kingdom" for my connection. Then I logged into my Disney+/hulu account. I wasn't sure it would work, but when I logged in to Disney+, the only acknowledgement I received was a message after the login screen that read, "It looks like you're traveling."
I won't spoil the short for anyone, but it is fair to say that if you're familiar with the plethora of her appearances on Graham Norton, you will feel as if this role were an anecdote pulled from her own personal life, and written specifically for her, and her alone.
I did find some annoyances within the writing, but that's for another time after you've had a chance to see the short.
Also, there is a painting above the fireplace in Dorothy's home that I would love to own. Don't know where I would possibly hang it in my current abode, but it's lovely.
Does anyone know the name/painter?:

Before you pay for a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service, consider a few things:
- Do you already have a subscription to Disney+/hulu? You will need it.
- The short you want to view is only 20 minutes long. You would have to pay for a minimum of 1 year of service (the one that I use requires a 2-year contract). Do you feel you will have enough need, or will use it enough to justify the expense?
- I'm betting that Disney+ (in the US) will make "A Friend of Dorothy" available in a month or two (maybe less).
- Not to dissuade you, but IMO, I don't believe "A Friend of Dorothy" will earn an Oscar. To be blunt, Miriam Margolyes is pretty much playing herself (no acting required) in that 20-minute time span. TBH, if you watch, The Ultimate Miriam Margolyes Experience (a very enjoyable collection of clips of her appearances on Graham Norton) you will pretty much have the same experience as seeing her character in the short.
- As it turns out, I was correct in that the short was written specifically for Margolyes. "I very much wrote it in Miriam’s voice" (see: Lee Knight On Creating An Endearing Queer Friendship Story Starring Miriam Margolyes In ‘A Friend Of Dorothy’)
- Also (as I noted above), the script is (IMO) not Oscar worthy. You can read it HERE before deciding, if you choose to risk any "spoilers".
Still, in spite of the above, I find the VPN that I use very useful - but I LOVE a lot of foreign TV, so I use it often - your mileage may vary.
NOTE: I made my choice of service because other VPN services are prone to Geo-Blocking/VPN blocks and restrictions that mine is not. I have been very satisfied with them.
AGAIN, consider how much you think you will use the service beyond the 20-minute short.

I did a "circle to search on my Pixel and the result was that the painting is "Saint Sebastian" by Flemish Baroque painter Louis Finson. It seems there are other Saint Sebastian paintings. Most notably with him pierced with arrows.
Hope that helped.

So kind of you! Thank you ![]()
When I search "Saint Sebastian" and "Louis Finson", I most often get this painting (which is similar, but not the same):
As you wrote, it seems that Finson did multiple paintings titled, "St. Sebastian".
I did discover that St Sebastian is (apparently) Christian history’s first gay icon, as well as being a resilient "tough guy".
"In 288 AD, Sebastian was sentenced to death for being Christian and converting others to Christianity. Diocletian [pagan emperor] had him beaten to death after the original method — being pierced with arrows — failed to do the job. "
Thanks again for your follow-up!
