Oh I know, that video is friggin nuts!!
I didn't know he could do acrobatics like that! He friggin back flipped into a piece of paper! ahaha
aaand he's adorable, but what's new? :P
(oh and speaking of him and musical theater: I know this is kinda like the cliche thing to do, but he really DOES need to do Roger in RENT. Just because he's absolutely PERFECT for it and he'd be SO brilliant)
So was anyone just watching Larry King at 9? It was SO good! A full hour of interviews! Cook is SO ridiculously articulate and amazing in interviews! (kinda the opposite of David A.. lord knows the kid is adorable, but he has suuuch trouble speaking in public, the poor thing!)

A while back I had a dream I was at a party. David Cook was there and all I remember saying to him was, "HEY! You need to play Roger in Rent!"

^hahaha, NICE :P Seriously, I NEED to hear his One Song Glory at least. Just sayin'
oh and by the way, if you guys havn't heard anything from Cook's pre-idol independent album Analog Heart, you should def check it out! The production quality is not the greatest, but it's REALLY solid stuff. I enjoy it quite a lot, and it shows off what a good songwriter he is. I'm not so sure it's legit to post the download link on here, and I don't want to get in trouble, but if you are interested, drop me a PM and I can hook you up
but for a taste:

Analog Heart is on constant repeat on my mp3 and my cd player. That cd is amazing. Anyone that thinks that this kid is not the real deal is just plain ignorant in my opinion. He is about the best thing to hit the music scene since .....oh I don't forever maybe!!
His voice has such a perfect tone to it, even the scrufft parts of it come out perfect. I am a huge fan of Daughtry also but Cook has just a little something extra to his voice. If the producers do try to make him put out any cheesy songs on his cd it won't matter because he has PROVED he can sing absolutely anything they throw at him.
Oh yea, and one more thing ..to that poster (sorry don't remember the name) that said that David used the cancer to get sympathy votes, you should be ashamed of yourself. David refused to talk about his brothers problem during the whole season just so people couldn't say that crap about him. He won this show on his own merit.
#56re: AMERICAN IDOL WINNER IS...
Posted: 5/24/08 at 5:55pmSaying Cook used his brother's illness to get votes is not only insensitive but absolutely ridiculous. Get over it, Archie lost fair and square, the better performer won this time. Archie will be fine so stop trying to insinuate Cook cheated in any way. David Cook never spoke about his brother on the show. Even in interviews he stated out of respect for his brother's privacy and in order to not influence voters for sympathy votes he would not discuss it. The media is the only reason any of us know about it. Archie had more press about his stage dad then Cook had about his brother. The sympathy vote could just have easily gone to Archie. I think both of them received votes based on personal preferences for style, performance, and personality. Musically it is like comparing apples to oranges. They both will have record deals so everyone can be happy. If you have watched any post idol interviews it is clear that Cook is more prepared/ready for a career in the music business. Archie will need some mentoring to help him feel more comfortable in his own shell and to verbally express himself better. Not winning, was a good thing for Archie, now he can have time, not in the lime light to really figure out who he is as a performer and get more comfortable dealing with the media at a slower pace. The music business today is not just about being a good singer today. Back off David Cook and let him have his moment, and allow Archie time to grow into a becoming a better performer in all aspects. Both Cook and Archie have expressed nothing but praise and admiration for each other, their fans need to respect that as well and move on.

Here are some acoustic performances pre-idol of songs he wrote. May give us an idea what he may try to do on his album.

oh my good he is even sweet to the paparazzi!
http://www.tmz.com/tmz_main_video?titleid=1566424492
like honestly, who is EVER, EVER nice to the paparazzi!?
granted I'm sure that will probably change as time goes on, but STILL. Crazyness!
(aaand he went out on a date with Kim Caldwell? Alright then... but I surely hope that isn't going anywhere serious becuase he can do soooo much better than Kim, and I'd like to think he WOULD. But hey, he's 25, gorgeous, and single- he's entitled to have so fun! Just remember, David, condoms are your friend! :P)

Posted: 5/26/08 at 11:54pmDid anyone see the Larry king live show this evening? Michael john's came across as an obnoxious jerk. I enjoyed him on the show, but his personality tonight turned me off. They asked David A. and Syesha about Broadway, both said they want to try to make an album but are just taking things one day at a time. I don't understand why anyone would even ask that to David A. You have to be a strong performer to be on Broadway; he needs to get more comfortable in his own shoes. I think David Cook really does see David A. as his little brother, he seemed to be protective of him and stuck up for Jason C. as well during the interview. He came across more mature and intelligent then most of the contestants.

hahaha, see I thought Michael was hysterical... but I suppose I can see how it could be obnoxious to other people :) I just love his sillyness though
DC: "well.. that could go both ways"
MJ: "go both ways Dave?"
DC: "Easy! easy Michael Johns, easy"
totally agree about David though, he's sooo sweet and protective of everyone <3 And yeah, he seems SUPER intelligent. I bet he was an amazing student. You don't just get that vocabulary from no where!
(From last week's Larry King-
Larry: Who would be the brains of the group?
*everyone automatically points to Cook*
DC: Indubidably!
good thing I'd never even HEARD of that word before ahaha)

#64re: AMERICAN IDOL WINNER IS...
Posted: 5/27/08 at 11:49amI don't even think they're dating. It appeared to be simply a platonic dinner out. Notice the other two people getting into the vehicle with her. I think David just had a longtime crush and figured he should take advantage of the situation!

yeahh, I REALLY doubt that this Kim thing is going anywhere. Though it could! But I have a feeling he was just being his usual nice self since she'd been saying nice things about him and she's cute :) And hey, if he wanted to get a little somethin' somethin' in the mean time, nohing wrong with that! He's 25, gorgeous, and single- he's allowed to have some fun! :P (just as long as condoms are involved- he wouldn't want any shinnanigans like that! lol)
But no, I actually had quite liked Kim on the show, and she's got a cute bubbly personality, so if he likes her, good for him! :)
aaaand Ellen later today!! WEE!

snl- Some of the stuff Michael said was funny, but he was a bit over the top for my taste and tried to make everything funny and interrupted a lot of the others.
I'm assuming that last night's Larry King live wasn't live, because someone asked about Kimberly Caldwell and David said they hadn't gone out yet, but he hopes there may be potential there. He obviously saw and spoke to the TMZ video person, so I can't imagine he would lie about it. If last night was live, then maybe he just meant the 2 of them hadn't gone out yet. I don't really care if it goes anywhere as long as they are both happy. I doubt he will try to really get anything serious started since he will be on tour. He will have more freedom that way.

oh no I do totally understand how his attitude could have been a bit of a turn off. I just kind of personally felt like he's just really comfortable with all of them so he was just being his goofy self :) I guess really what it is is that I agree, but it just didn't bother me that much, that's all (I also might be slightly biased because he is SO gosh darn cute hehe)
Can I just say, though:
I love that, in the beginning of the competition there was a bit of this estigma that, in comparing Michael and Cook, Michael was the nicer more humble of the two and Cook was really good but a bit arrogant (at least, that was the initial impression my mom and I had got). And it actually turns out that, if anything, it's the OPPOSITE!! haha. I don't know that Michael really is arrogant, but he certainly is a little bit less.. outright, noticably respectfull and sweet. Whereas Cook, he honestly seems like one of the sweetest most respectful people ever. He's ALWAYS a gentleman, ALWAYS quick to compliment everyone else, and ALWAYS very careful not to steel anyone's thunder :)
I just thought that was kind of funny, because I know that I for one have always grouped MJ and DC together a bit, and in the beginning it was always "well they're both awesome but MJ is awesome AND he's humble about it". But that's changed soooo much. I think Cook just gives off a very mature, confident air when he performs and that can initially be mistaken for arrogance when in fact it's not at all
/long, semi-pointless ramble. lol

I agree about how my opinion has swithched too. In the beginning I didn't like Cook at all because I thought he was cocky. He started to win me over more and more each week after "Hello". I think he actually started to listen to the judges, at least Simon. He even said after Michael got the boot, it really opened his eyes and he started to pay attention more, listen, and take it all in. i think it was around that time he said he opened up more to the vocal coach and it showed in his performances. He definitely improved throughout the contest.
I think Michael is cute and never really thought much about him being cocky or not during the show, it was just in that interview. I think you are right he is very comfortable with everyone, but that doesn't excuse him for interrupting them. It seemed like some of the others were getting annoyed too. I think I could only take him in small doses. I think he is the oldest one, but maturity wise not so much.

So. Get this.
His upcoming album went on presale like yesterday on amazon, right? And you'd think that, considering it's not intended to drop till late fall, it would be pretty on the DL for now?
NOPE. It's friggin #13 already in top sales! THIRTEEN!! and considering it's climbed 2 places just in the last 2 hours alone, I have no doubt that it'll be #1 by like.. tonight or tomorrow haha.

He hasn't even sat down to start WRITING for the thing yet!! This has GOT to be some kind of record!!
Honestly, who's album hits #1 before it's ever even STARTED BEING MADE!?! :P
#73re: AMERICAN IDOL WINNER IS...
Posted: 5/30/08 at 11:59amIt is number 8 right now. That is just weird. I like him and all, but I would never pre-order an album this far in advance from a new really unknown artist. He isn't really sure exactly what type of album it wil be (pop rock or more edgy rock). I would want to hear at least a single first. I actually feel bad for David, he has a lot of pressure on him to live up to the presale hype now.

I agree, sesot. This is just crazy. It's great that so many people love his talent and are supporting him, but they are expecting almost too much from him now. I will at least wait until the album is physically released before I buy it.
My only request is a full studio version of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". His Idol performance was just the tip of the iceberg.
