Well... see, I wouldn't be worried, because I KNOW that I'll love it, as long as they don't force him to do songs he's not comfortable with. As long as he gets artistic freedom (which they'd be SO INSANELY STUPID not to give it to him since they KNOW what he does sells), I know I'll be buying and enjoying the album.

That said, I do agree in that I feel bad for HIM! It's not fair to set the bar soooo high that it's like.. what if it doesn't meet everyone's expectations? It's not fair to put that kind of pressure on him.

And besides, even I, who know I will love the album, do NOT intend to buy it till it comes out :) Granted most of that is because I use itunes so amazon is kind of useless to me anyway haha. But also it's because... just because I love him doesn't mean I'm not going to hold him to the same standards I hold ALL the other music I listen to. I will be listening to clips and singles first, and only if I like those will I buy the album. It's just the difference with this one is I'm preeetty much positive that I WILL like them, so I'm pretty positive I WILL be buying it :) But nevertheless, I'm not about to invest before hearing anything. I'm not about to make that exception, even for him. Heck, I don't even make that exception for Hanson, and anyone who knows me KNOWS my love for Hanson!! ahaha. But even with them, I STILL listen to clips before hand to make sure I'm digging what I'm hearing :)

He is already at #2, this floors me. David really does have loyal fans. There will be even more pressure to rush his first album. Rushing usually means skimping on quality. I am sure David will make the most of this opportunity and whatever artistic freedom he is given. My gut tells me that his management and record company will be more concerned about getting something out than allowing David time to develop the amazing album he is capable of writing and recording. It will be interesting to see how fast a new single comes out and who writes it.

This is really INSANE.

Seriously, it HAS to be a record, does it not? I can't IMAGINE many other people could possibly get this high in pre-sales before they ever start MAKING a record!

Gratned this is prooobably just an initial rush since it just went ON presale, and it'll prob end up dropping in time until it actually gets closer to the release date, but STILL! It's amazing and wonderful how much faith his fans have in him. It's like there's not even the slightest doubt in anyones mind that it will be worth having :)



Oh and as for the rushing/artistic freedom thing:
Well, I HOPE that they don't rush it too much just because of this. Their initial goal was sometimes late fall, and that in it of itself is lofty (he's really gonna have time to make a record while touring at the same time!?). So I hope they just stick to that- if they try it any earlier it really COULD compromise quality. And artistic freedom? Seriously, they will be the biggest IDIOTS in the world if they try to throw stuff at him to do instead of letting him do it his way. He did not get to this point by doing thhe same old cheesey stuff everyone else did- he has a very distinctive, solid style that they KNOW sells. Heck, look at Analog Heart! If they have ANY brains whatsoever, they will be bending to his every wish, because the music that's going to sell the most is going to be the music HE writes. It's not like Jordin and Fantasia who may have been great singers but couldn't really set one disctinctive, sellable style for themselves.
