Did anyone else see that video clip with Gladys Knight and she has Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr. as her Pips? I have to say that was my favorite part of the show. The clip was hilarious, and Robert looked cute dancing!

Luscious, I think you got that right! I thought the same, especially when Simon stated that for once, he didn't care who would win it. I think he was trying to deflect having to say he wanted Cook to win, after having praised Archuletta, so much,the night before. I also think it was a "psych" move.
Also, though, I think the "father" thing with Archuletta got people a bit put out...I think some people actually went for the "underdog" here, on purpose.

Well, I think Cook is "top dog", for me! And it was the happiest I have been about an AI winner, so far!!! Finally, America is starting to recognize true musical talent, and going past the "tweenies" favorites

I understand that Archuleta is contesting the votes in Florida and Michigan.






I think it's the right winner. Archuleta has a stunning voice that will only get better with age and training. He will definitely have a career. Cook is the whole package--a complete star.

heheheh, I LOVED that Robert is SO cute and I lurve him. And the whole thing was just so priceless! You really can't get much better than Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, and Ben Stiller dancing and singing to Midnight Train to Georgia :P

He may have a bit of a more common-sounding voice (I've established that he sounds almost exactly like Edwin McCain), but he's HARDLY a phony :) He's actually a true musician. Yeah, of course sometimes he just happened upon good arrangments for his style, but a lot of times he DID arrange the songs he performed on his own, and those arrangments were JUST as good as any of the ones he got from other sources

Plus, he does have MAD vocal chops. Some people may consider him "screamy", but... if you listen to his studio recording of Music of the Night, for example, I can't really see how anyone could deny the man can SING

The show ran long, and the Comcast system stopped recoding at exactly 9 PM central time.

Haha - Jon - my DVR in NJ did the same thing! I happened to be watching at the time, so saw it, but the DVR did that freeze thing when it ends and my roommate and I spent the next 30 seconds trying to figure out who won!

re: DVRs, I made sure since the Taylor Hicks debacle a few years back - not his career, but the DVR cutting off - I've always made sure to extend my DVR settings on the finale, because when they do it, it's never accidental.

Cmoore, he now has the top 4 songs on Itunes. The producers must be thrilled. I hope they allow him time to make a good album and not just throw crappy songs at him to get it out. I hope he will put out a full cover of Hello, and the rest can be original songs. It will be interesting to see how he sells in comparison to Daughtry.

David Cook is the poor man's Chris Daughtry. DC's voice is nothing special you can't hear at any dive in the East Village. This result further erodes my confidence in the American voting public. David Archuleta is a million times more vocally gifted than DC, and the fact that DC was phoning it in on Tuesday, sang a fair number of flat notes and yet still managed to "win" is beyond me. I think the cancer sympathy votes played a part in this "victory" as did the judges' reverse pyschology number played on DA.

My only consolation is that DC is now stuck singing schlocky ballads, which he can't perform to save his life, as part of his Idol tenure.

Here is a video of David performing in his highschool's production of Singing in the Rain. It isn't the best video, but the sound is pretty clear. Apparently he was also in his school's production of other musicals too. Guess, he may enjoy musicals like us.
