lol, did Simon just hug Paula?
(Someone is going to nab you for spoilers, even though it's perfectly obvious from the title.)
Not to downplay anything but, does it matter? (I don't mean your thread, Eug.)
Do we have any doubt that Archuleta will be signing his record deal tomorrow?
It's no longer a surprise anymore. I enjoy seeing who actually gets the most votes, but I look at the finale as more of a "look back" on the season rather than a "results" show. Because we already know what the results are.
One of them will sign a deal tonight. And one of them will sign a deal tomorrow.
wooo hooooo
Is anyone else surprised by the margin of victory? 12 million votes.
I am so excited for him!!!
He was my favorite the whole time!!!

i dont know how many total votes, but i think it was 56% - 44%
Over 92.5-million votes
Cook = 56% (won by 12-million)
Archuleta = 44%
I thought it would have been closer after the judges praise for David A was over the top. Obviously the public has good taste and voted for the true artist. Someone I wanted to win actually did, it's a miracle! David A. will be fine he will get some kind of deal and should be more free to go in the direction of Josh Groban (if he wants) without the pressure to create more radio friendly pop tunes. Maybe Disney will call soon.
CONGRATS COOKIE!!!!!!
So that means the closest finale remains Ruben and Clay, right?
Congratulations Cookie!
And winning by 12 million votes! As the virgin bride said to the groom on their wedding night... I find that hard to swallow!
I love Disney.
But even I know they were hoping and praying Archuleta wouldn't win.
I bet they'll be the first ones to pounce tomorrow.
I think they got it pretty right on. I think he will sell records far better than past Idol winners. I am really looking forward to see what he does.
If Disney doesn't scoop up David A, they are crazy!

It's obvious the producers and judges wanted Cook to win all along. Last night was one big psych by the judges. They know exactly how to play the viewers to get the result they want. You have to adnit, they really have it down to a science.
I'm so happy for him. Cook deserved it.
I think he will sell like Kelly/Carrie.
And I'm sure Archuletta will find success with Disney.

My night is MADE!!!! MADE I TELL YOU!!!
I am just... I cannot even believe how INSANELY, ABSURDLY happy and content I am right now!!
Just everything about the ending tonight was... perfect. PERFECT <33
CONGRATS COOK, YOU DESERVE IT LIKE NO ONE'S BUSSINESS!!
oh and just for the record, he made me get teary eyed. For real <33
snl89, you're not the only one. I expected him to be emotional with everything going on for him, but wow, tonight he let the floodgates open.
HOORAY FOR COOKIE! Enjoy not sleeping for 48 hours. =)
snl89, I just finished crying myself after about 30 minutes of being emotional. I never thought he would actually win, much as I wanted and hoped he would.
And seriously, how gracious was he as a winner? So sweet.
America (and American Idol), I now have faith again in your judgement!
I'm actually believing it was the judge's plan to get more votes for Cook last night.
Watching it back. Paula hugs Simon. and Paula and Randy high five each other and hug. They all look thrilled beyond belief.
I'm not complaining though.
I can't believe I started crying when he did. His brother was an emotional mess! I don't follow the show and only peek in every once in a while. Archuletta did not look comfortable and looked a bit stiff with the choreography.
I'm so happy that he won! The rest of my family is mad though because they wanted Archuleta to win. It's the first time that my family has been split over who we wanted to win on American Idol.
