I got an A in AP American History (and got a 5 on a score of 1-5 on the AP History Exam) and graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies.
What can I help you with, Jwei?

M_E, I don't really need help (I have an A)...but I'm just going crazy because I'm SO afraid I'll get a 1 on the AP...oy vey.
I'm creating an outline- I'm on the "First Great Awakening" ...I have a ways to go! :/

Jwei, back on the Jurrassic Age when I took the APs, the essays counted HEAVILY.
If I were you, I'd would begin to amass a large amount of meaningless dates and facts that can be "organized" into a fairly intelligent "answer" rather quickly...

Yeah, M_E, I'm the most afraid for the essay...what I am doing is cutting all the material into fairly large chunks (like a test)...so, we'll see...
I can't wait to start memorizing the important elections and court cases! :)

But please remember the essay has to seem "well thought out."
Like I said, use the Shovel as much as you want--just organize it in such a manner that it appears you are answering THE QUESTION ASKED with relevant information that "appears" as if you have intimate knowledge of the era of History that question pertains to--whether it does or not.
BTW, my essay question was on the X,Y & Z Affair of 1797.

Posted: 5/1/05 at 9:11pmUGH. APUS has been keeping me prisoner for the whole weekend, not to mention all of last week and this week too. I am on Madison and the War of 1812 in my thorough reviewing.

OKAY, CYP.
A Two-Parter:
1) What was the Last Battle of War of 1812;
and
2) Why was it fought after the British had surrenderd?

Hmm I think it is the Battle of New Orleans.. and was it fought to ratify the Treaty of Ghent? Or was that already ratified?
... I guess I need some clarification
#10re: AP American History
Posted: 5/1/05 at 9:17pmM_E: Answer: Was it because the last battle was at Louisiana, and they had not recieved word that the war had ended two weeks earlier?

Posted: 5/1/05 at 9:18pmYou are CORRECT, it WAS the Battle of New Orleans--but the reason it was fought is because Andrew Jackson had not yet received word (via VERY SLOW message riders on horseback) from James Madison in Washington that the British had surrended.

It's cool, CYP.
The Electoral College OFFICIALY declared that Rutherford B. Hayes won the 1876 Presidential Election on March 2, 1877--about 36 hours before his Inaguration.

Okay.
In the Presidential Election of 1912, which candidate got more votes--Teddy Roosevelt for the Progressive Party or William Howard Taft for the Republican Party?

Dear god, if the DBQ or any of the essays are about the XYZ Affair, I am officially screwed.

If the DBQ essay is about anything after 1850, I'm screwed.
Just Kidding. Except Not Really. Kinda. :/
