"double agenda peeking around the corner"

I don't even know what those awards are and I never saw you post anything about them, I don't go back and reread your posts for re-edits. And it's not even the point. You've lost your "diversity is undesirable because it's racist" argument. Handily.

I can only imagine this news is disastrous to you:
"Ryan Murphy Commits to Hiring More Directors Who Aren’t Straight White Guys"
...[B]y the end of this year, Murphy has committed to filling 50 percent of the director slots on his shows with candidates who are women, racial minorities, or members of the LBGT community.

Why should I care when quality is all that matters?
It is simply impossible to choose a director based on their sexuality or color. Then you are doing exactly what you complain about.
Not the solution. Just as bad.

It is exactly the point. Participating in mainstream versus creating separate race worlds.
And I only mentioned it 3 times on the last page. Shows how well you actually read. I did not re-edit anything.
So for the last time: Will you be protesting against black reel awards once the Oscar voting body is diverse? Or comes your double agenda peeking around the corner and you still want separate awards?

I protest racism. I do not know what the black reel awards are. Are you trying to talk about the BET Awards? Regardless, as has been demonstrated again and again, if something is celebrating something, then it's not "exclusion." If the Oscars admitted they were "celebrating whiteness" (which needs no celebrating, it's celebrated all the time!) then they'd be more honest.
So let's break this down for you and Charlotte Rampling: Celebrating successful women is not and can not be "sexist" against successful men. Celebrating the BET Awards is not racist against Charlotte Rampling and people like you. Celebrating Black History Month in the US, the shortest month of the year, isn't racist against white history.
THAT'S the fundamental flaw in your logic. Yet you keep coming back to it like a rat addicted to an opiate.

The fundamental flaw in your logic is that one race can exclude every race they like in a random event and another race can not. That is not equality.
Even when each and every mainstream voting body is diverse, you say it is ok that one race is allowed to create awards just for one race and another is not. THAT is a double agenda. That is racism.

"Even when each and every mainstream voting body is diverse"
^^^ When has that been? And, it seems as if you are admitting the Oscar's bias for whites. Which they're trying to do something about. Because, naive little friend, THAT is the definition of racism. Just go ahead and admit the Oscars are a celebration of whiteness.

Next year the Oscar voting body is diverse.
And then you still think it is appropriate for ANY race to create awards that exclude certain races?
Then YOU are the one that doesn't see black and white as equal.

Next year, the Oscar voting body will be more diverse than it currently is, and THAT won't take much effort. And the year after that, perhaps more diverse. And perhaps that means more films will be seen and honored, perhaps not. But since the Oscars claim to be about excellence in film, not just white film, that makes sense.
Awards created to be about excellence in black film, are about that. That's not racism. That's celebration. That you think that's racism is why YOU are racist.

"black film" - seriously?

Are you?
Are the Lambda Literary Awards homophobic towards straight writers? No they are not. It's impossible to be homophobic to straight writers. Which is the EXACT inaccurate argument you make every time you worry about black people celebrating black culture.

Black film. So the rest is white film? So they shouldn't have black people in it? Or should black people have the right on both and white people only on 1?
Racist.
"black film" - seriously?
Black film - celebration
White film - racism
Seats only for black - celebration
Seats only for white - racism
Separate awards for black - celebration
Separate awards for white - racism
Event with no white welcome - celebration
Event with no black welcome - racism
Equality? My ass.
It's either same standards or double agenda.
"It's impossible to be homophobic to straight writers".
If it's ok to exclude the one, it's ok to exclude the other.

And this is changing the mainstream world how? You might think those organizations are a result, but they are a cause more than anything.

Namo, what are your views about who is welcome in the voting body for the Black reel awards and who is welcome to be nominated?

Maintaining separation. Great mission.
WOW @ this thread.
I feel that the Academy membership needs to be more diverse and I am glad that this is being addressed and outreach is being implemented to rectify that. It's going to take some time but with concerted effort it can be achieved.
What is truly disturbing to me is the skewed perspective of a certain individual on this board. The fact that he fails to see that his way of thinking is the very reason this is going on and it is not phasing him in any, way, shape or form despite members on this board going out of their way to point this out is fucking mind boggling!
i have to give a shout out to my unrequited love - - FindingNamo who is always on point but I also want to give a heartfelt shout out to Miss Phyllis Rogers Stone. We've had our differences in the past I know but I will acknowledge that after reading your posts and expressing your thought on this very subject I have come away with a newfound respect for you.
And I want to take the time to truly apologize for the unnecessary nastiness of the past.
