Who are some actors you know of who aren't known primarily for their dancing (i.e. not Chita Rivera), but who can dance?
Julia Stiles
Keri Russell
Elizabeth Berkley
A lot of Julia Stiles' (good) ballet shots were danced by a double in SAVE THE LAST DANCE. I hardly consider her a dancer.
Ewan McGregor. After Guys and Dolls started I read a lot of reviews that were just shocked that he could dance so well.
Does Catherine Zeta-Jones count as not known primarily for dancing? Even though she's been a professional since what, 17?
Renee Zellweger
I guess OH GOD I forget her name. WHY do I forget her name..the one from Pretty in Pink who was in Cabaret? URGH brain freeze
Well, I enjoyed her dancing in Ten Things I Hate About You, Glebb. She's definitely got rhythm.
please don't forget that tap dancin' tornado--christopher walken.
Charlize Theron, Jenna Elfman and Neve Campbell were all ballet trained. And one of my faves, Audrey Hepburn.
Good pick, Garland.
Some more:
Victoria Rowell
Finola Hughes
Jeff Fahey
Lea Thompson
Julia DEFINITELY had a double in STLD. However, she did get very fit, and take as much dance as possible to train for it, so I commend her. But, a rigorous dance schedule doesn't make up for a life of not being in classes. She did a good job, though.

I assume Marisa Tomei can dance if she was going to be in Sweet Charity.
Jennifer Garner is also a trained ballet dancer. That's why she's so graceful when she's kicking butt on alias.
It might be a bit of a stretch to call Carmen Electra an "actor", but she can move pretty well.

I like Julia Stiles. I just think she would be amongst the first to be cut at an audition for a ballet company.
Neve is very good in ballet slippers and not too bad en pointe. She is a real ballet dancer. Jane Seymour and Emma Samms were also real ballet dancers - well trained and with potential to make it as ballet dancers. Do we consider Jane Krakowski an actress with dance talent (she's a real ballet dancer too) or a dancer with acting talent?
PS - I knew Jeff Fahey at the Joffrey School and he was a very good dancer with perfect ballet legs and feet.
Neve Campbell looked great in The Company, though the film itself left me a little dazed and confused...but she definitely had the training to back up the character.
Opps, sorry MrMidwest.
I've just reread the first post and see that I should have not brought Jane Krakowski into this thread.

Oooo...i LOVED The Company...Neve was, indeed, brilliant in that film.
It was bizarre, to be sure, but...impressive and beautiful and simple at the same time. It is a film in its own class.
I dug it.
Don't forget Megan Mullaly, either. Trained and beautiful dancer.
ummm....john o'hurley? ha ha.

You're probably right, but I do think that she dances to hip hop with great energy and flow.
I did realize that she was doubled for part of STLD for anyone who thinks I'm that dumb. :-P It was pretty obvious.
Vanessa Williams' dancing in Dance With Me was pretty impressive, I thought.
Gorgeous!
(Sorry in advance for going back to the beginning of this thread) BUT...
Julia Stiles didn't do any of her own dance in STLD, I know her double (Chrissy Whitehead), have taken class from her, and she is PRETTY DARN AMAZING.
I don't know where i was going with that. I'm done.
She did some of it.
Claire Danes was featured in this past Sunday's NYTimes as returning to the world of dance, for PS1 here in NY.
I believe Lea Thompson is a graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts - ballet division.
Justine Bateman was a super for Joffrey in The Taming of The Shrew at the Dorothy Chandler in L.A. and Cynthia Gibb was a super for Joffrey in Romeo and Juliet at the Dorothy Chandler in L.A.
They were both ballet dancers.
