I'm a little bothered by the fact that he says he's proud of his sexuality right after he makes it pretty clear that he was waiting til after the finale to address the issue forthrightly:
"The American Idol Season 8 runner-up ends any speculation in the next issue of Rolling Stone, out Friday. "I don't think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear I'm gay." He explains: "I've been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man. I've been at clubs drunk making out with somebody in the corner."
The Idol favorite, who finished in second place after Kris Allen, says, "Right after the finale, I almost started talking about it to the reporters, but I thought, 'I'm going to wait for Rolling Stone, that will be cooler.' " He adds, " I'm proud of my sexuality."

Wow. I never would have guessed he was gay.
I've been at clubs drunk making out with somebody in the corner."
And now he's outed ME!
well, we don't know the circumstances. I mean, the producers could have told him to keep it under wraps. But, we all knew it...said or not.

Ugh. Well, at least he killed two birds with one stone. He officially came out as gay AND as an opportunistic publicity whore. Congratulations! Gay pride is all about being in the best magazines.
LOL MM!
So, being drunk and making out in corners means you're gay?

Do you have something to tell us, Addy?
I'm waiting for Vanity Fair to say anything...

What? I AM SHOCKED-- SHOCKED to hear he is an opportunistic publicity whore! I'd think if that were the case, he would have starred on a top-rated reality show.
I came out in a local penny saver. It was the best I could do.
Singtopher, nothing wrong with that. Think of how many queens looking for bargains will see it.
LMAO singtopher!! I, for one, love the cover. That snake is gorgeous!

I haven't been this shocked since I found out Morgan Freedmen is black.
Especially with the coupon it came with.
Mister Matt--what's wrong with a musician waiting to talk about his life in the country's major music magazine?
You wanted him to come out in Popular Mechanics, maybe?
This thread is cracking me up.
Sing, I believe I saw that article in the Pennysaver. Nicely done.

This comment left on Towleroad addresses DJ's point:
"You guys do realize that it was in Adam's contract with "Idol" that he was not allowed to publicly disclose his sexuality until the producers decided that he could...and that freedom was not provided to him immediately after the season ended. The producers waited and searched for the best way for him to disclose his sexuality with it having the least "damaging" effect on Adam's future financial success (for them, not really for Adam) and that's why Rolling Stone was chosen. Adam has tried to subtly drop hints both during "Idol" and after "Idol" to talk about his sexuality and has tried to do what he could to get around his contract (like being see out holding hands with his boyfriend, Drake). This is why other "Idol" people, including Kara DioGuardi and Kris Allen, have been allowed to speak about Adam's sexuality...because it's not expressly stated in their "Idol" contracts."
As prestigious as Rolling Stone may be, wouldn't he have been a bigger publicity whore if he had come out on AI? Their audience is exponentially greater than any magazine. He's probably doing Rolling Stone a huge favor.
Thanks Dan.
Ok, it's official. Adam has said that he's gay.
So???
Does that change anything about him? Does that change him as a person, change this talent....
Uh, no..........
If a person is gay or straight...that tells you absolutely nothing about them - are they a good person, are they a kind person, do they have a moral compass, etc...
It's his business - not ours. That's the bottom line.

Rolling Stone, New York Review of Books, Screw, Readers Digest- Do you think it matters one bit? It's going to be everywhere today.

At least he went ahead and came out, without years of silly speculation and whispercampaigning. When will Anderson Cooper and Jodie Foster do the same?

"It's going to be everywhere today."
While Kris Allen noticably is not.
