He killed himself two weeks after his lover killed himself. If I read correctly they were being torn apart by immigration issues.

Suicide, it seems, a few weeks after his partner took his own life. Apparently there were work/visa issues.

Very sad indeed.

wow...read his statement. Frankly more should be blamed on "Landmark". A friend of mine was a strong believer in that program. Invited me to a friends and family event. I went to be respectful. It was horrific. They try to brainwash you. Had to walk out. Makes me wonder if that was a driving force behind Wilfried's partner turning to suicide. Landmark makes no qualms about trying to open up your inner demons to examination. Those things are sometimes left untouched.

There but for the grace of God...

I am so thankful for Sweden's immigration policy and commitment to equality. I am an American citizen and should be able to have my wife immigrate to be with me. My child should be granted citizenship without question, as she is legally mine. Most people have no idea what binational same-sex families have to face.

This guy's story just breaks my heart. There are thousands more like them.

When people kill themselves, it has more to do with mental health issues, than immigration issue.

A mental issue which could have been caused or brought to the foreground by the immigration issue. He was obviously distraught (the mental issue) because of his loss due to the immigration issue.

This is very sad. People commit suicide when they see no hope or alternatives. It isn't a direct correlation with one's mental stability. I feel badly that he saw no solutions.

I'm orking on RAGS right now and have been reading a lot of these stories in my research of the immigration experience... The issues in this country are very sad and so out-of-touch with what we used to be.

And yes. He was a gorgeous man.

Johnboy, I'd like to echo what the others have said. Depression can be brought on by outer issues. It is a disease that can lie dormant and be triggered. It can also be aggravated.. I am sure the problems they faced were painful for them.

I never saw his sex videos so I just watch an interminable 20 minutes from a bondage movie called REDDER. They sure don't make em like they used to, do they? I couldn't figure out what emotion(s) he was trying to play. He was similar to Katharine McPhee in many ways.

But Landmark Education is far from insidious. It doesn't come close to the mind f@ck that is Scientology. Landmark used to be called EST back in the 70's and early 80's. I took the training back then, as did many celebrities such as Valerie Harper, John Denver, Tovah Feldshuh (who attended my training), and found it to be enlightening and beneficial. If you're emotionally unbalanced, it may be more than you can handle, but it's far from a cult.

JohnBoy, if you have ever been REALLY in love, to the point that you know you HAVE to spend your lives together or the whole damn thing will be pointless, then you could understand the sheer terror of being forced apart. There really are soul mates out there and stupid immigration laws can keep them apart. A farmer from Des Moines can order up a Georgian or Thai bride and have her join him in the US, but two women or two men who have fallen in love and have committed to one another don't have the same luxury. Sure, depression played a part, but being told you must live an ocean apart, and being forced to by law, is completely unimaginable. These men shared a life for nine years and they were being pulled apart.

I beg to differ with you, Namo, but, no, EST wasn't a cult. Not by my definition. I took the basic training, which took place over one weekend back in 1977, and one additional graduate course. And that was it. I was never harangued or harassed by anyone to continue beyond that point. I walked away from it and took with me a life philosophy and mindset that has stayed with me all of these years, and which I still find useful and beneficial today.

Not trying to pick a fight, but it did have attributes usually used to define a cult. Charismatic leader/guru to whom most of the wealth flowed; arcane insider lingo; emphasis on recruiting others into the program; nebulous goals ("getting it"), encouraging members to associate with other members and ignore friends or relatives not interested in signing up; sleep deprivation (or was it potty deprivation?) at weekend seminars.

Back to Lululemon, though, weirder than the Landmark connection is the fact that the founder of the company was a devout Ayn Randian who had "Who is John Galt.?" Printed on their shopping bags. For ladies yoga togs!

My Landmark friend is defintely brainwashed and is always trying to get me to go and sent me the most bizarre e-mail describing her sex life since being with Landmark and I've known her for 20 years and she never mentioned a date to me even since shes been with them
