If someone's obnoxious enough to the point where you're aggravated, just tell them they're obnoxious.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 9:20pmMaybe instead of a thread like this, it would be more effective to PM the certain teens you feel are rude/obnxious/stupid (& not group them all together), and politely tell them how you feel about their online conduct. I'm sure most people would be more willing to have a civilized conversation privately than feel like they're being critisized and judged.

I agree with Plum. Why is it okay for adults to start numerous stupid threads? It's not. It's just as obnoxious - in fact, even more so, as we'd hope they would know better.
And it's the ones who do that and yet judge others for the same offense who are the worst offenders of all.

Are YOUR matching socks more important than anyone else's? Or your pet rabbit? I can't think of the number of new threads that are started where I feel like just posting the Banal link to save everyone the grief.

It was just a suggestion. I fall into the teen category and I know that if I was upsetting some people on the board I would rather have them talk to me about it than make a thread like this, one that I feel would provoke the stupid/obnoxious teens to be even more annoying. Then again, I guess you're right about the PM thing, it just seems as though it's less of an attack if the PM is genuine and polite. I'm just saying how I would act if someone PM'd me about my behavior, I would try to change how I posted. The last thing I would want is to tick anyone off...especially on this board

Tiff is right. And if you have a situation in your life that's important to you, and you want to post about it, either use the banal thread or, if you must start a thread, start one. ONE. You can update it, change the title if needed, as much as you want.

I think it was nice of Liotte to start this passive-aggressive thread instead of PMing people - now there's no hurt feelings, just a bunch of over-sensitive paranoid people who'll be wondering if she's referring to them, and *hopefully* will watch the banality they post in the future!
