Anyone a fan? I just went to her Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour last night, and was blown away. It felt like it was all fresh and new, and she sounded incredible...just amazing as she did ten years ago.

Just wondering if anyone else loves some Alanis.

My plans fell through for last night, so I tried to get a ticket on ticketmaster...but they had stopped selling at that point.

Tell me how fabulous it was. I saw her Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie pre-tour at the Hammerstein and wept through the whole thing.

Oh, man. Apparently they were selling some last-minute tickets at the box office...that's a shame you didn't get to go, robbiej.

The show was really incredible. I'm not gonna lie; I was a litte teary eyed for a bunch of it. She performed every single song from Jagged Little Pill (plus "Hands Clean," "Uninvited," and "Thank U"), all acoustic, which let her vocals shine a little more. She really sounds just as good as she did ten years ago.

It was my first time seeing her live, but I went with a couple of friends who had seen her many times before, and they said it was the best they've seen her in years; she seemed more comfortable and connected to the music than ever. She even took a few moments to talk with the crowd, something she rarely does.

She had two encores...first one she came out and did "You Oughta Know" and "Hand in My Pocket." Second time, she came out and did "Thank U."

The physical setting was realy nice. The stage was set up to look like the inside of a home...couches, lamps, windows....and during each song videos that went along with the song somehow would be projected into the window, as if it were what you'd see looking out the window from inside the house. It really added to the effect of it.

Radio City was a really nice place to have a show like this, and even though it was acoustic and pretty layed-back, the audience was really into it, standing up and singing a bunch of the songs along. It was really incredible.

Afterwards, I was lucky enough to meet her on her way out and was surprised at how willing she seemed to talk, and how friendly she was. Good to see she's a really sweet woman, and she really seems to appreciate her fans.

I guess that's about all I can say, robbiej. Sorry you had to miss it. Have you bought the acoustic release of Jagged Little Pill? It's great.

I saw it in Starbucks this morning, but may just try to download it if it's on iTunes.

Your description gave me tingles. I love the woman and her music and everything she stands for. AND we have the same birthday...in the same YEAR!!! I feel such a connection to her.

I shoulda just hit the box office. Damn me!!!

I really like Alanis but I have to say, I'm a little put off by the "only available in Starbucks" release for the new album.

She IS Canada's best!

NCguy...I believe it'll have a wide release in July. It is a bit strange that it's only available in Starbucks for the time being, though.

Yeah, but those first six weeks (or however long it's only available in Starbucks) are pretty important to retailers.

Here's my little review (copied and pasted from the U2 thread):

Hey folks! I'm back at work after a very long day yesterday...yeah, 7-1:30, then up again a little after 7 just doesn't cut it for me. We got the tix w/ no problem, other than the fact that they were ticketfast. They scanned fine, but I'm a bit of ticket hoarder, so I was bummed not to have a hard ticket to keep...really though, no worries on that, because Elphie and I found some on the way out!...Our seats were in the last row of the orchestra on the aisle, and considering how far back we were, they weren't really that bad at all! I've never been to Radio City before, so I was expecting the performers to be more miniscule than they were.

Jason Mraz opened for Alanis, and while I never really disliked him, I didn't really love him either. I don't have his CD, and all I've really heard is The Remedy (and my god, was that overplayed!)...But he put on a really good (very short) set.

Prettiest Friend
Wordplay
Rocket Man
You and I Both
Geek in the Pink
The Remedy
I'm Yours

I really liked his stuff done acoustically. It was just him on guitar and this guy, Toca (who randomly ended up sitting in front of us for a half a song during Alanis' set while the woman who was sitting there got up to go to the bathroom or something)...yeah, Toca was playing a djembe. All in all it was a fun set...good times!

Alanis' set was also excellent. Obviously lots of stuff from Jagged Little Pill, but there were a few others tossed in as well. Her stage set up was really cool...kind of like a living room. She was in excellent voice, but the audience was kind of funky. There were a lot of random "I love you Alanis'" that sometimes came at kind of inopportune moments. Also, I've got to say, I've NEVER seen so many people getting up, coming and going, etc. at a concert!!! Up and down, in and out. STOP PEOPLE!!! It wasn't like some crazy marathon concert where you'd really have to get up and run to the bathroom or get a drink, or whatever. Maybe it just seemed more noticable because we were in the second to last row, so we saw pretty much everyone that got up to leave, you know?

Anyway, here's the setlist:

Your House
You Learn
Not The Doctor
Perfect
Head Over Feet
A Man
Ironic
Forgiven
Hands Clean
Mary Jane
All I Really Want
Right Through You
Wake Up
Uninvited
----------------------
You Oughta Know
Hand In My Pocket
----------------------
Thank U

What time did she come out, broadwaygirl? Elphie and I waited for a while, but I left around 11:35 (had to run to Grand Central to catch an 11:58 train). I hate not being in the city all the time! Had I still been at school, I totally would have stuck it out, but w/ an hour train ride and work in the morning, I just couldn't stay and wait for the 1:00 train.

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

mabel, she came out about 12:45...maybe even closer to 1. Yeah, we waited for a while, lol. And she didn't come out the door everyone was waiting by either (nor do I think she ever intended on doing so, lol...they were loading trucks over there. It didnt make sense to me that she'd come out that way), she came out another one...there were only about seven of us. I felt weird waiting there, thinking she wouldn't want to talk, and I wouldn't have even said anything if she didn't seem willing, but she seemed more than willing. I was surprised.

And yeah...the people getting up and walking in out and during the show annoyed me. It seemed like there were a lot of people really into the show, and quite a few that didn't seem to care (nor did they seem to care about the other people there).

And hey...I was in the second to last row as well.

EDIT: And thank you for posting the set list...I completely forgot about "A Man."

I was thinking that she might come out the loading door after they finished up there and left...oh well, there was no way I would have been able to wait that long anyway (probably wouldn't have even made the 1am train! These are the times I miss being in school, so I can just kick around as long as I want, and then just hop the subway back...*sigh*

I'm glad she didn't come out, like, 2 minutes after I left (12:15). That would have pissed me off. I'm glad you got to meet her, though, BroadwayGirl!

My dearest friend saw her in concert a couple of years ago. He still talks about how, in the middle of IRONIC, the music cut out and she sang, a cappella, the entirety of THERE ARE WORSE THINGS I CAN DO from GREASE. Then she went right back into IRONIC.

She's my soul mate.
