re: American Idol Predictions

Not just you. His falsetto makes me want to amputate my ears.

I don't like Ace.

re: American Idol Predictions

i love his eyes when he does a ballad and looks right into the camera. he has the look of a star, but I'm not sure of his singing. also, I'm not watching it right now, so I have no idea how he is doing.

re: American Idol Predictions

I love how they always show the dress rehearsal clips in the recap... Ace's last note was better than tonight's.

ETA: See, he creeps me out when he looks into the camera. I want to hide.

It's called the "eyef**k." Originated by Justin Guarini, brought back by Constantine Maroulis, and now Ace. It's creepy as hell, but some people like it.

Heh, I loved last week's rehearsal clips, where Melissa got right the lyrics she messed up in the actual performance.

re: American Idol Predictions

Ok, I bumped this before the show started, and my post disappeared...weird.

Anyway!
<-----ELLIOTT!!!

I haven't been this invested in an Idol contestant...well, ever! Love, love, love. And he looked so fantastic tonight, on top of singing one of the most challenging songs of the night. Love the Manilow candor too, heh.

re: American Idol Predictions

I love that Chris really branched out and instead of last week where he just took a Stevie Wonder song and made it sound like 90's modern rock he took a big risk and took a Johnny Cash song and made it sound like 90's modern rock. Real range of talent there, Chris. Maybe next week he'll go crazy -- REALLY step up -- and sing 'My Girl' as if it were 90's modern rock. That'll be HOT.

re: American Idol Predictions

I am not getting the Chris love. I do not think he has done anything very special. I do think he is getting the benefit of his numbers being overproduced with the orchestrations and lighting, but his voice is truly just okay and he is an okay performer.
Elliot and Katherine are the opposite, great singers who are not connecting to the songs/audience. They are still in my top three, tho.
Mandisa is the only great singer and performer IMO. I worry that she is setting the bar too high for herself, and one "this was not your best, blah, blah" from Simon will put her in the hot seat.
Lisa, once again, left me cold. Oversinging yet again, and with such a performance song it didnt make any sense. Instead of feeling the song, she looks constipated.

AND...I am sure that Paula was drunk again last nite.

re: American Idol Predictions

My votes this week were for Mandisa, Chris, Katharine, and Elliot. They have been my favorites from the beginning.

Chris is an artist, that's for sure. It's interesting that the contestantas are told week after week to "make the song their own" and Chris is doing just that. I understand the criticism that he's not branching out, but I don't think he needs to. What he does is top notch.

re: American Idol Predictions

(OK BEFORE YOU READ THIS: Note that I have included my opinion on every contestant because I haven't gotten a chance to post on this topic yet, so just keep in mind that this is only my opinion) I like Chris (but only because he's hott, lol) he can sing but I don't really like the whole rock style of music. I think Bucky will be the next one voted off. He did a horrible job on "Oh Boy" last night. Katharine has some major pipes! But so far I think my favorite is Mandisa! She's from TN (where I live) so that may play a part in it but still, she can sing! Paris is good and she's cute so I think ppl will keep her on just for that. Taylor is ok and it seems that every time I watch him I like him more and more. Last night he had an outstanding performance (his vocal wasn't that great, but still) and I really like him because he doesn't have a "bubble"...he does what ever he wants lol. Ace's falseto...enough said! He seriously needs to watch when he uses it. Too much! Kellie's good, I think she may be in the top 3. Kevin is just cute, he's like a mouse lol. I think it's funny to watch him cause he squints and stuff (AWWWW!) :p . Ryan said something to him the other night about it. "Chicken Little" the perfect nickname! Lisa's good but I think she'll be voted off in the near future. Elliot's an amazing singer but I just don't like his look. I know they don't really judge on your physical appearance's but still. I like his voice though! Ok I think that's it...lol......

re: American Idol Predictions

My take on this week...

Bottom three:
Bucky - even though he has been growing on me a bit.
Lisa - who I quite liked (a lot) up until this point, but her timing was way off last night and I realize I prefer her singing ballads.
Kevin - who is still a complete joke, SHOULD be in the bottom three, but he won't be for some unknown reason.
so I think it's going to be Ace again.

Ace can't sing. Period. But he is so pretty! Is it shallow that I want him to stick around because he is pretty? j/k

Best performers last night:
Mandisa
Paris - overacts a bit, but she's cool. I still like her.
and I will kick myself for saying this, but I think Kellie Pickles did quite well last night! usually I am anti-pickles, but last night, I must admit, she was good.

I still like Katharine (she's stunning and she sings beautifully) but I have that issue with her not "connecting." Somehting about her is a little detached form the audience.

Elliot is a cool guy, and vocally he's great. I think he will stick around for a while. Last night was not his best performance though. I am also glad to see that perhaps Elliot got a facial? His skin was nice and glowy last night.

Taylor - I still like him quite a bit. He's confident, and it makes listening to him very enjoyable. I also like his voice.

Chris Daughtry. No complaints from me. He's great. Same as last week. Totally like him.

While I think Kevin, the show's resident sideshow act, should be going home tonight, I predict Lisa says Adios.

re: American Idol Predictions

Bucky, Lisa, Kevin, Ace and Taylor were all mediocre. Dull song choices without much chance to show off.

re: American Idol Predictions

I'm really scared that Elliott's gonna be forgotten by America, so thanks everyone who voted for him! I wouldn't be surprised if he made it to the seal tonight with Bucky and Lisa. I highly doubt he'd get kicked off though, that'll probably be Lisa, followed by Bucky next week. However, if we're going to have an Ace-like surprise on the seal again, it should be Taylor. Not his best at ALL last night. Damn you Covais, or should I say John Stevens v2.0....

re: American Idol Predictions

is there anyonr thatthinks that the producers are pushing for Chris to win by making his perfromances a little more theatrical?
#643

re: American Idol Predictions

I noticed that Taylors was a little flashier too. I always find the order they sing interesting
#645

re: American Idol Predictions

I think Mandisa will be on for a while (hopefully in the last round) but I think Bucky will be voted off tonight. I hope so anyway...his performance last night was awful! I agree completely with Simon! I thought Lisa did a good job but it just wasn't good enough for me.

re: American Idol Predictions

I think Chris is one of the hottest guys ever on AI. I could do some wicked things with him with his wife watching or not. Her choice. Elliott is kind of a fugly guy, but has a great voice and I dig him. Mandisa rocks. I think Squeaky Paris is going to get tiresome, but will make it to the top 5. Taylor is 'aight. Last night was not his best.

To go tonight: look for Bucky to say buh-bye. Next week's losers might well be Chicken Little or Lisa.

Am I the only one in America who thinks Paula was drunk off her ass last night?

Or drugged........

re: American Idol Predictions

I think Paula is drunk and/or stoned pretty much every night.

Performance order is often a good indication of who the producers want to showcase and who they want gone. The last slot often goes to someone they want to build up and who might not be getting as many votes as they would like (is it any coincidence Ace performed last the week after he wound up in the bottom 3?), while the first slot goes to someone they also favor (and who can start the night off with a bang) but doesn't need help getting votes. When they want someone to go home, that person will usually perform in the middle of the show, perhaps even right between 2 of the more popular, praise-garnering contestants, and it's easy to make someone look good by having them go right after someone who stunk up the place.

re: American Idol Predictions

was it just me or were the first few seconds of katharine's song (trumpet, not her) sound like if it were from Gypsy? i also have to say i have a major girl crush on her!

anyway, Elliot's new look was really nice. that ugly beard he had before made him look horrid.

PLEASE KEVIN LEAVE! few more hours
