I'm a Clay fan and at first I hated everything about tonight. However, upon further review of an MP3 I was able to seperate the impersonator from Clay. I realized that, aside from one crack on an attempted full voiced high C, the performance was quite good. He has of course sounded much better.
As for the hair...ummmm....yeah, no.

What Celine Dion song did Meatloaf sing?? I tuned in late.
Like I posted a day or two ago, American Idol is people voting for who they like to see perform for FREE on their TV once a week. They don't have to pay for a CD or a concert ticket; they just go home and flip on the tube. Most Americans want to be entertained and Taylor delivered that in spades most weeks, but now comes the real test, will people go out and pay money for his product?

I don't know about that. Kelly, Clay, Carrie, Fantasia and even Ruben have sold millions of cds each. I think the voters have put their money where they voted.
Fantasia sold millions? I guess I didn't know that.
but again, what did Meatloaf sing?! Inquiring minds need to know.
Clay looked a bit odd.
I am not sure I like his hair.
But, he sounded pretty good.
I thought both Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton sounded pretty bad.
(West Coast - so sorry for the delay).
And, I thought Pickler looked really cute in the girls number with her short leather jacket.
It was clear to me that Toni Braxton wanted some Taylor Hicks and she wanted him there and then. Meatloaf...was out of control, but fortunately his horrific performance and good choice of song left room for the best performance, in my opinion, that Katherine ever gave.
Mary J. Blige is an a-hole for sucking up all of Elliot's singing time...and she sounded like crap.
Toni Braxton should never be allowed to be on a stage again.
She never has been able to sing and last night I couldnt even hear her. And making Taylor hump her was totally inappropriate during "In the Ghetto" for jeepers' sake!
"It's All Coming Back To Me Now" is a song written by Jim Steinman that was originally recorded by his group Pandora's Box, which was essentially a group of female singers Steinman liked recording with. He put out an album through them called "Original Sin" that came out in 1989 or so (which features the original recordings of "Original Sin" that he put in DOTV and "It Just Won't Quit" and "Good Girls Go To Heaven" that Meat Loaf put on Bat II. I believe "The Future Ain't What It Used To Be" cropped up in DOTV also under a different title.)
Celine Dion recorded the song a few years later and made it a big hit. Meat Loaf has never recorded it.
Thanks for clearing that up, Popa. My mom was telling me that Meatloaf had used in a show as an act and I didn't know that. I was really freaked out at the beginning b/c I didn't realize that they were "acting" the song. I was scared!
But Katharine did great on that. Kudos to her.

This may be very old news, but I heard the "reason" Chris was "voted" off the show.
I am not sure this is true, or whether it has been reported here already, but what was stated was that he signed a recording contract, and that his signing was in direct violation of his A/I contract.
I am not sure if any of this is true, but that is what I heard.

Come on, there are no Claymates here who thought the boy looked cute with the new mop do? Ok, the color may be too dark for his skin, but still, he is Clay....adorable....almost god-like.
Seriously, I was surprised to find that Dionne Warwick, in spite of her age, still can sing. Not as lush and strong as she once could, but still pretty damned good.
