"I'm just glad to read that someone else on the planet thought McPhee was overpraised."
blueroses,
I HATED Katharine McPhee with a passion. She just thought she was the end. I hated it when she would go up into her high belt. It sounded so hideous and screechy. She was constantly told "less is more" but she never paid attention.

i like david cook better than archuleta but archuleta definitely outsung him last night
i wish that carly smithson would start doing better.. i think she is for sure one of the most talented people in the competition but she just keeps making bad song choices. there was one performance of hers that completely blew the judges away but i cant remember when it was or what the song was...anyone remember what im talking about?
It was Carly's performance the first week of the Lennon McCartney songbook that the judges really liked her.
I thought her performance last week of "Here You Come Again"was pretty outstanding.
I want her to start doing better as well.

The only version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow that doesn't stink is Judy Garland's. Everybody else should shut the F up!
Glad to see that I wasn't the only one who thought Castro was murdering the OTR lyrics. I kept wondering why the judges didn't call him out for it (now I understand that the ukelele guy recorded it that way), but it still really took me out of it. I think they overpraised him again.
Brooke - meh - she is wearing on my nerves for some reason.
Syesha paled in comparison to Fantasia on "I Believe." Not even close. I hope she is voted off tonight.
Michael Johns was good, but I am not a big fan.
Kristy continues her improvement. Def. good enough to stay IMO.
Carly had an off week - very off week - (I really liked Here You Come Again last week), "Show Must Go On" - and it may go on without her.
David Cook was a bit underwhelming, but is still a force in the competition. I liked the hand bit at the end (albeit a bit cheesy).
Archuleta was great on "Angels," I am eager to hear the full recording from I Tunes.
I dont understand why Michael was called out again for an "impression like" performance when Jason did the same thing. I'm so tired of that kid. I'm tired of Brooke too.
I'm also tired of hoping that Carly would do a good job...she hasnt really impressed me yet, and I doubt she will at this point, cause I think she may go home.
and I also never understood McPhee-ver. I just didn't get her - and apparently neither did the record buying public.

i agree about Brooke, i think she is very "meh" but i do think that she could make it as a country music star, so could Kristy Lee Cook
I hated Angels and completely understand why it wasn't a hit here. Besides, it appears to be a song for a much older singer. It seemed silly for Archuleta to be singing it, and he really wasn't very good, imo. Seyesha sang that boring piece of crap about 5 billion times better than the overrated Fantasia, who does nothing but scream and say yeah, yeah, yeah. Cook was off, Carly is not as good as she thinks or the judges keep saying she is, and Johns was off-pitch. Brooke was just okay, and Jason, once again, was most engaging and likeable in his performance. Although I detest hearing anyone but Garland sing that song. His performance and vocal style is always pleasant.

Did you hear Simon intimate that her performance last night could very well mean the end for her? I hate when he does that.

kristy lee cook should definitely go home before Carly..
sometimes i feel like the judges should have some say in the voting off process instead of it just being america voting, anyone agree?

I SOOOOOO Do not agree with you there at all Mr. Johnnyboy2!! I actually like that version better than the original and better than Kathrine Mcfee's. I thought last night was Jasons best night so far.
My recap (not in order):
Johns - sucked
Castro - rocked it
DCook - sucked (what was up with the beginning?)
Archie - sucked
KCook - rocked it
Smithson - sucked
White - sucked
Mercado - rocked it
I've never liked Fantasia. I think she's a untalented hack, who only got by because she's the poor black girl. I've never liked her voice.
Y'all say Fantasia had more emotion. Of course she did! She just freakin' won the show when she sang that song. As of yet, Syesha hasn't won.
It was a very disappointing night. I predict the bottom three will be DCook, Smithson and White.

I hate that Hawaiian ukelele version of Rainbow because the lyrics are al f-up and out of order. They don't even make sense.
It's so overused - everything from commercials to Dr. Green's death on E.R.
Who cares if they changed a song?
It's just a song. No big deal. If you don't like him, don't vote for him.
Jason didn't rhyme 'bluebirds fly' with 'why, oh, why can't I,'
instead repeating the "and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true" bit again and again
Has anyone heard the studio recording yet?
It could be different.

I disagree as well. I think Garland's is the definitive version, but I love Eva Cassidy's take on the song. I also think Israel K's is beautiful. It makes me tear up because I associate it with Dr. Green's death scene on ER.

I have not heard the studio recording, but apparently Castro being faithful to Kamakawiwo'ole's version of OTR.

Here are the IZ lyrics- it really softens the impact. And frankly, it doesn't really make any sense:
Oooooooooooooooooh
Oooooooooooooooooh
Oooooooooooooooooh
oooooooooh oooooooh
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dream of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dream of
Dreams really do come true.
Someday i wish upon a star
Wakeup where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemondrops
High above the chimney top
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to
Oh why oh why can't I
This guy looks like Tiny Tim

i think he's kinda cute! hes got puppy dog eyes :)
The Brits always pee themselves whenever they hear "Angels". It came out right around the time Princess Diana died, and all the Anglo's have visions of Diana angelically protecting them whenever they hear it.
This a video of Robbie performing Angels live. Who do you like better- Robbie or David A?
