Even though it seemed inevitable, this is just so sad.

This is not shocking but it just so sad. RIP to a great talent.
Very shocking. But also unsurprising. A real shame, considering she was extremely talented.
I'll never forget the first time I heard her voice and fell in love instantly.
Such a talent. Such a loss.

Not surprised but very sad news.
She could sing...
Reg, you put my thoughts perfectly. May she rest in peace.

I kinda agree with Josh Groban, what a waste. Especially to have talent like that and throw it away.

The thing is, you know, I don't think there was a conscious decision to throw away a gift. She had a disease that a lot of people are able to recover from, but not all. Unfortunately for her the disease was fatal.
That's exactly it, Namo.
The only thing worse than the tweeters and Facebookers solemnly blaming her for succumbing to it are the ones tsking about how "we all watched and did nothing."

Oh please. THAT is crazy making.

She didn't throw anything away. Addiction is a DISEASE.
I wish people would educate themselves before speaking.
I certainly understand the anger and frustration we feel when someone does succumb.
But the fact is she did seek help. She did attempt to treat the disease. And it's tragic that she failed.
@ Trash,
And I wish you wouldn't generalize EVERY addict the way you do.
But, we can't have everything, now, can we?
I listened to her music and did nothing. I'm not only mourning her passing but mourning myself for not doing more to help me want to help.

What does that mean, Jordan? If you're serious, it sounds like what RTresilan and findingnamo are talking about. If you're joking, it's a little too soon, I think.
The over 90 people killed in Oslo, AIDS, Cancer, no balanced budget, 2 wars... These are what I have compassion for, and yet it seems people on BWW are more concerned with the death of Amy Winehouse than real issues...this is what I find truly sad.
Are you maybe feeling just a little guilty you should have done something, Diva? It's understandable if you do...

It doesn't have to be an either/or thing. Addiction destroys the lives of millions. It's a huge issue. Whatever you might think of her, she's another human life lost. Just because I have compassion for her doesn't mean I don't have compassion for those in Oslo - but what is there to say about the act of a madman? Honestly, perhaps the less we speak of him, the better. Why give him the press he probably wanted?
