An actor on Broadway who can play any role(can be male or female)

Can you guys name actors on Broadway who could play a role really well if given a certain one? I think Roger Bart could play any role. He went from playing a dog, to playing a gay designer(at least I think that's what Charmen Ghia is. I don't remember), to playing Roger Bannister in The Stepford Wives and lots of other roles. I think he has an amazing voice too! I think one of my friend's is going to be the next Roger Bart!!

I hate to go on the bandwagon, but Butz really is incredible. The suave, sexy Roger and nebbish, crude Freddy are about as far off as it gets. While on the DRS track, I think Joe Cassidy deserves some credit for his turns as Freddy and Andre.
Rosencrantz: "Be happy - if you're not even HAPPY what's so good about surviving? We'll be all right. I suppose we just go on." - from Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

Two words: John Lithgow. He can play your friend, your enemy everything. Just see his film credit re: An actor on Broadway who can play any role(can be male or female)
Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."

Raul and Norbs 100% everything lol
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

I didn't even think about it, but after seeing Margo's post, I have to agree...

After seeing Jefferson Mays, I had goosepimples

Definately Raul Esparza, all his parts are so different from each other and he does everything amazingly!

Agreed with whoever mentioned Roger Bart.

Also agree with Raul and Norbert, but I want to add in someone else.

Anthony Rapp-Hedwig, Charlie Brown, Mark Cohen, Daryl Coopersmith (not on Broadway but how adorable)

That's all I needed to know.
1. Ted Allen: Everyone has an interesting life if you ask the right questions.
2. Great buckets of Spoffnor, they're going to sing!
3. "I love shrubs that are historical." -Johnny and The Sprites
4. "We're not singing it to you, we're singing it for us." -Rosario Dawson, about La Vie Boheme
5. "The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours." -The History Boys
6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys

i do not think jefferson mays could play any role. i think raul is a much safer bet. and also, i think if skin color had no effect that both phylicia rashad and audra mcdonald could play any character. comedic, tragic, dramatic, old, young, sassy, deep... obviously there are some roles that african-american actresses cannot play, but if that wasn't the case...
