Beautiful sentiments, Priest. re: Angels in America

re: Angels in America

I think I may have appreciated it more due to my unhealthy obsession with Al Pacino, Emma Thompson and Meryl Streep.

MusicMan - I feel there might have been a little over-sensitivity in your reaction to Priest's comments. I really think it was meant with good intention, and am sensing that that is how it's being received.

No over-sensitivity at all, DGrant. As a gay man myself, I refuse to be a poster boy for StickToPriest's notion that "the homosexuals on this board" are noble, superior and holy victims persecuted by society. Sure, there have been offenses perpetrated upon gays---and blacks and Irish and Poles and women and Muslims and Jews...I could go on and on but why bother?? Every group since time immemorial has been the brunt of someone's intolerance at one time or another. So, spare me the sanctimony. StickToPriest's comments, well-meaning though they may be, are as antiquated and cliched as the stereotypes in THE BOYS IN THE BAND.

re: Angels in America

What is sterotypical about saying you admire someone's courage and virtues?

I apoligize sincerley to those I may have offended, as it was not meant in any intent but one of admiration, not patronization.

re: Angels in America

Priest, thank you. You have made my night. And I doubt that you have offended many, for most people around here are intelligent enough to understand your beautifully-worded message.

re: Angels in America

As apparently others around here will speak their mind as if it were gospel truth, then I will as well:

Priest - THANK YOU for you beautiful and thoughtful words, for they are recognized as coming from your heart, without prompting or coersion. I embrace your affection, and am happy that we can find a commonality rather than a barrier to our friendship.

MusicMan - No offense, but I think you're part of the problem.

No apologies necessary, StickToPriest. But no one group corners the market on courage and virtue. I'd venture to say that none of "the homosexuals on this board" would trade places with a woman in Teheran.

re: Angels in America

Courage comes in many forms and all are equally admirable. And you seem to make it seem that I said that one must be gay to be courageous, which I did not say at all.

It seems as if you are suggesting that because no one would trade places with "a woman in Teheran," it makes them cowards, and that they should not be looked up to. Courage does not make on go looking for trouble, but it helps you to stay strong when faced with tremendous adversity.

And that, my little Priest, is why I find you so sexy. Well... not little.

WOO HOO for ANGELS IN AMERICA, one of my top few plays ever! I met Tony Kushner last week, and I am not ashamed of pretentiousness, I am just soooo HAPPY! I will post my picture of he and I soon.
:)
Aaaaaaaaaaaand I would have rather liked to have seen Justin Kirk win the Emmy.
