Well, sometimes I just don't like anything about a production. Is that okay to post?

Best12bars said everything there is to say on this subject so I see no reason to add anything except my support, which is what I did.

The original post doesn't ask for in-depth, critical-only thoughts.

It simply asks for " your thoughts."

"It sucks" is a thought. "I don't like" is a thought as well.

Neither takes too long to read or digest.. so you haven't lost that much of your life reading them while you look for your more acceptable scholarly level critiques.

So, I just saw this movie. I thought Ann Reinking was FAN-F*CKING-TABULOUS. She's definitely the best part of it. Also, a shout-out to Carol Burnett playing a drunk-ass, scary Miss Hannigan.

Your thoughts?

I was so embarrassed by Ann Reinkings's performance in Annie, that I slid-down in my seat in the movie theater. That whole We Got Annie thing was just painful to watch. Carol Burnett was completely one-dimensional, without the level of ability she displayed on her television show and the entire film is horribly directed and photographed in neauseating close-up. It's one of the worst films ever made in my opinion. It seems that if you were a child when you first saw it, it tends to hold special memories. I wasn't, and it doesn't.

Never saw anything other than the original version.

No show could ever be butchered like Superman was in the TC version. the show was great but the TV version was a cut below amatuer hour. It must have had a budget of $ 100.

no need to exagerrate in order to try and win an argument.

a) I never asked for "scholarly level criticques". Any movie made has enough craft in it for good thought, despite the source of the material.

b) of course "it sucks" is a thought. I just maintain there are better thoughts available.

c) Don't accuse someone else of laziness ("bother to read, doesn't take much time") when the level of effort in posting is just repeating a cliche or worse, a single word ("bad, bad, bad"). That would be pretty hypocritical.

And now, moving ON...negativity can really wear someone out. If that much defensive energy were put into better writing, you'd have a forum that would be even more addicting....

mmouse,

Your posts are snooty and rude.

If you've been around this board, you will know this is how we discuss things.

Get your nose out of the air.

As previously mentioned, my children are 5 and 11. "Bad, bad, bad" is perfectly appropriate to give as a critique at their age.

mouse makes a lot of good points, and I dont know why so many of you think its some sort of badge of honor to be on these boards for a long time.

It is funny to see mouse called snooty and rude after all the posters who were so sarcastic and condescending towards his ideas. only on bww : )

mmouse wants "better writing" from the posters on this board.

A noble ambition.

But I suggest you confine your search for "better writing" to professionals and give up on those here who are often young and just beginning to form and express their opinions.

and ...sometimes.. just sometimes.. like an exquisite haiku..

"It sucks"

is all you need to say.

George,

Do you EVER shut up?

I've never seen such rambling, mindless posts before.

mmouse hasn't added anything to this thread except to rag on our writing skills.

confront? I suppose if you really need to know more you can ask the poster to elaborate... but confront? Criticize them for not writing the way YOU want them to write?

I don't think that is necessary.

Yeah, I'll admit "We Got Annie" was terrible. But I still really enjoyed Ann Reinking.

Didi anyone watch the special features? Aileen Quinn still can't act.

Yeah, I never really understood why she went up the bridge, either.

Did you ever notice that when some posters are "confronted," they go back and delete all their posts from the thread?

Wow, I didn't realize this Annie 1982 thread would be the new "meltdown" thread!

mmousefan---Do you realize how horrible you sound when you write off other people's opinions as being "bad writing" and "not good enough" for this thread?

You need to grow up fast (along with your infantile opinion of that wretched Annie film) or move on. At the very least, you need to understand that different people offer different perspectives of art in general. That's a nice way of saying, "Get over yourself."

But don't start insulting people just because they don't agree with you. It's as infantile as your "steadfast" opinion of this horrific Annie movie.

And BFB--Your posts never fail to make me laugh!

Read more carefully for context. Saying there is better writing and thought doesn't insult anyone. In fact, it's another way of saying "grow up and be less infantile." Now THAT's insulting. I don't keep repeating I LOVE ANNIE I LOVE ANNIE IT'S MY OPINION I LOVE ANNIE. My end of the discourse has been civil. If you need to attack someone in order to discuss, don't project the immaturity on me.
