I think it will make you relax - like a big tax
rebate!

Speaking of tax rebates, you have to try turbotax....I already have my tax refund direct deposited into my bank account---how cool is that.
And about this NYC song....the first time I heard it (maybe the only time??) is when the h.s. that I teach at presented Annie about 4 years. I had no idea that Lets go to the Movies was not in the stage show, and when I saw NYC I was like why did they put this in the show?? And it didn't help that our high school puts on the worst school editions you've ever seen. : )
But, if I grew up knowing the stage version, I could see why you might resent having NYC taken out.
Plus, Andrea McArdle is in it!!!
Exactly! Having NYC in the movie already made it better than the 1982 version, but they had Andrea McArdle, which was just above and beyond awesome.
"keep that kind of stuff to PM."
Why should I PM you when your attitude is plastered all over the board.
And as far as mis-spellings go, FCUK You.
I'm old enough to remember a TV special promoting the "soon to be released" movie version of Annie. CBS,perhaps?
They showed the entire Easy Street number...but it was different than the Easy Street number that ended up in the film.
The Easy Street number in the film all takes place in the orphanage. The Easy Street number in the TV special moved out of the orphanage and into the streets of New York with everyone inexplicably singing and dancing along with Burnett, Peters and Curry.
Does anyone else remember this special?
You should PM because it IS so personal. That's what they're for. Otherwise, you're mainly showing off and "calling out." Again, put that hypocritical connection to use on "attitude."
Well.. my memory was a bit off, but thanks to youtube.

The only reason I'm posting to you is that you felt the need to whine about everyone else's spelling and grammar.
No one asked you to grade our posts. If you don't like the way we do it here, you can leave.

Blonde, if you look up Annie on imdb.com, in the trivia section they talk about how they spent over a million dollars producing this huge outside scene for Easy Street, and then at the last minute they decided to throw it all out and film the one that's in the film now, inside the orphanage.
You do love that royal "we". Did I miss the BWW election that made you queen? I don't grade "everyone's" posts at all; you seek out negative attention, then act surprised that you receive it. And if you can't take the heat, and don't like the topic, why don't you go another thread OR USE PM's?
mmousefan this world would be such a better place if you just left... or posted on the gaymates thread...
BFB---They actually re-shot the entire number. Yes, I was a die-hard Annie fan back then, and I know all the trivia, although I've tried to block it out:
1) John Huston signed on to direct the Annie film DESPITE the fact that he openly HATED the song "Tomorrow." Sentimental hogwash, according to him. He is the reason why the actual song "in context" was CUT from the film, played over the titles (at the insistence of Columbia) and only the reprise in the White House remains in the actual plot.
2) Huston originally wanted to add a funeral scene to Annie. I'm not sure who was supposed to die, but that idea quickly faded away. He wanted to make the movie "dark," like Oliver! Perhaps that's why he added a chase scene to the end, with Annie hanging from a bridge. He'd watched Oliver! one too many times. Wrong orphan, John!
3) Easy Street was originally filmed as a HUGE production number with the principle trio venturing out into the streets of NYC. A chorus of millions joined in. Even Huston, who allowed (apparently) a thousand orphans to sing and dance in "Hard Knock Life" decided that was "too much." Nice to know he had his limits, even if they were seven steps beyond everyone else.
4) Andrea McArdle was originally supposed to play the "Star To Be" in the 1982 film. When they decided to kill the number and replace it with the (totally lame) "Let's Go To the Movies," Andrea was "killed" along with the number. FYI, I have a program myself from a performance she gave in Kansas City that announced she was going to appear in this 1982 movie as the "Star To Be."
The trivia is more interesting then the actual film.
I wonder if after all these years with video, dvd sales and such if it has finally paid back?
that is a GREAT clip. Who is the choreo smoking during rehearsal, how fun. I'd forgotten Bernadette's long history of guesting on Burnett's variety show, a Saturday night staple. Love the details like Annie's locket...reminded me of how in LITTLE GIRLS Burnett's blocking had her drinking the gin to the right level in the bottle for the "ping" sound to be in tune...great stuff.
Curry is a genius. Love the tidbit about Rooster's physicality choice....
wow, you can't stand me so much you had to follow to another thread to bash. Great accomplishment. What is this "gaymates" thing, second time you've mentioned it, if it's preferable feel free to relocate.
The trivia is more interesting then the actual film.
BFB, your posts rock my world.
We love BFB!
She rocks!
"I was indeed cyberfriends with BLUE ROSES a while back, not that it's any of your business"
then why did you post that you were?
When someone tries to tell the rest of the board how to post, it never really works out.
Okay, back to Annie for those interested.
I responded to BLUE ROSES when she asked after my identity, that's all. The rest was responses to other inquiries and accusations. Responses to one of my posts brought observations on other posts, not how-to's. I kept my comments, as much as possible, to post content, not to personalities (again, until provoked). It's really interesting how may PM's I got that were supportive, versus would-be bullies trying to "call out" and not use PM's at all. Been consistent on trying to stay on topic, except when challenged. Thanks for the input.
I meant in this thread, which is where you were criticizing me. I copped to being off-topic in P-RUN thread. And going on tangents on the Off-Topic Board, what a departure from the norm. Guess they named it for something else. Is attempting to bully another thing "people" do all the time here? I'm sure people claim the PM thing alot. That you assume it's not true in every case says a lot more about your nature than your attempt to belittle me. Stop assuming, just because this nick is new, that I don't know "the ways" around BWW. In fact, behavior like I've seen in this thread today is what drove me and a lot more reasonable posters away, and probably prompted the Moderator warning from last month at the top of Broadway and O/T Forums. I took a hiatus and I'm back, get used to it.
I know this comment was made a long time ago,(first page of the thread)but Nicole Fosse was not in All That Jazz. The actress that played Joe Gideon's daughter was Erzsebet Foldi.
Anyway, I thought that Annie was OK. Not the best movie I ever saw, but certainly not the worst. I enjoyed Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters, and Ann Reinking. I do agree that the songs they added to the movie were pretty bad, and the whole "We Got Annie" was just a vehicle to showcase more of Reinking's dancing. The song itself....yuck! And "Dumb Dog?" YAWN....
Why would someone who joined BWW on Valentine's be so full of hate and anger and not love?

I know all about loving childhood movies that are exceptionally bad as an adult but still loving them (looks meeking at 60s Batman).
Honestly I have real fond memories of it, but it is a bit of a shocker I have to admit. :)
