It's been a pretty open secret for years that Holland Taylor is a lesbian. I believe this is her first public acknowledgement of her same-sex relationship. Interesting. I saw her a little while ago at the theater with a much much younger woman (who I'm a big fan of) and randomly thought "well they seem strangely close".

She and her girlfriend have been photographed together at several public events. It's a very open secret.

I read this out to my wife and she said, "She just wanted to make sure everyone knew she didn't sleep with Charlie Sheen. Oh, God. I can't believe I said that. 

 

Good for her. She has excellent taste if Sarah is her squeeze!

But yet she goes with actor Michael Medico to all public events like the Emmys and other award shows.  Has for years.

I never knew that she is a lesbian. Nor that she's approaching 80. But then, I never really thought about her sexuality, or age, until I read this thread. Good for her, I say. for being and living out. On her own terms. I think she's a terrific actress and impossibly chic!

For anyone who has yet to see it, David Lindsay Abaire's "Ripcord", currently at City Center with she and Mary Louise Burke, is wonderful!. It closes this Sunday. GO!

She's 72.  I guess that's old, unless you're 71.  I always love the ageist assumptions that people and their sexuality literally disappear somewhere after 60.  Taylor inadvertently makes a helluva case that it ain't over til it's over.  And that it's not nearly over.  Of course, a 72 year-old gay man with a 40 year-old might create more eyebrow raising, or worse ("ooh, ick!  He looks like his son!"  Or not.  Just a thought.
