Season Two of TORCHWOOD has a lot of DOCTOR WHO tie ins. Martha was in three episode of TORCHWOOD SEASON 2. There's a lot of things that was explained in the season finale of TORCHWOOD like where all the charcaters came from. Unfortunately 2 of the cast died> I wont mentioned who...
anyways..I have Netflix and I get all my DOCTOR WHO episodes at Netflix. Has anyone tried..The Sarah Jane Adventure? (another spin-off of DOCTOR WHO)-one of the Doctor's companion in the old series. Ive heard its more of a children oriented show?

I've got the Sarah Jane Chronicles in my Netflix queue.
Thanks. I just added it too on my netflix. Is the robotic dog (K9) included in the show? When is TORCHWOOD 3 available on DVD~and its only 5 episode?

Yes, I think K-9 is in the Sarah Jane Adventures.
Torchwood series 3 won't be on TV until probably May or June. I have read a rumor somewhere that the dvd will available in July.
Sorry, I'm not trying to pound into anyone the info on Torchwood...
But yes, it's only five episodes.

They couldn't get the license for K-9 - or at least not at a BBC-affordable price - so he only appears once or twice in SJA. But it's still a charming show.
Plum - Does it show how she got a sonic screwdriver?
Seriously? Knowing my luck, I would go to put that lipstick on and BAM....hit the button my accident and make by lips fall off
I LOVE Doctor Who!! The new series at least, never seen a classic episode. I started watching in Series 3, so David Tennant would be "my Dcctor," though when I started watching them all from the beginning, I loved Eccleston as well. I was so disappointed when Tennant announced he would be leaving after the specials, and I hope Matt Smith can be a worthy successor. I've only seen him in one thing - "Moses Jones" - so I don't have much to go on, but he has an intriguing quality about him that could work well for the Doctor. We'll just have to wait and see where they go with him.
My favorite overall season is easily Series 4 with Donna. I just adored most of those episodes, especially the utterly massive three part finale of "Turn Left/The Stolen Earth/Journey's End." As for my favorite episode of the whole show, I have so many! I'll have to go in order with the ones that are particular faves of mine:
Series 1: "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances." Brilliant writing, great acting by Eccleston and a truly scary monster.
Series 2: "The Girl in the Fireplace" and "Doomsday." Moffat's writing for TGITF was nothing short of genius and I love the relationship between Ten & Reinette. As for "Doomsday," oh God that was one of the saddest episodes I've ever seen, perhaps only surpassed by Donna's fate in "Journey's End."
Series 3: "Human Nature/The Family of Blood" and "Blink." I think the two-parter with the Doctor as John Smith is where Tennant really shines. Probably his most brilliantly acted episodes of his run as the Doctor. "Blink" is not only a great Doctor Who story, it's just great TV in general. Another example of the mastery that is Steven Moffat. I am very much looking forward to what he does with the new series.
Series 4: So many to choose from, but I just loved the absolute joy & humor in "Partners In Crime," and as I already mentioned the gargantuan finale.
I can't wait for the next episode "Planet of the Dead" at Easter!
As for Torchwood, I am not a fan. I watched three episodes and nearly fell asleep on all three...although I still like Captain Jack.
If those three were from Season 1 I would recommend renting Season 2. The second season is a thousand times better than the first.

Spidey, Sarah Jane got the sonic lipstick from the Doctor along with the repaired K-9 at the end of "School Reunion", I believe.
Ooh, favorite episodes. It's a bit difficult. Let's see...
S1: "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" - Just a classic all around. Great effects for the Blitz sequences, strong storyline, and beautiful thematic resonance. It really means a lot to Nine that "everybody lives". I also have a bit of a soft spot for all the fine character and theme work going on in "Boom Town", which is an episode that gets put down a lot for no good reason, IMO. But Moffat was really the shining star of this season.
S2: Looking back at this season makes me realize how much I hated it. But I guess I'll go with a mix of "School Reunion" and "The Girl in the Fireplace", both of which were excellent concepts screwed up a bit in the execution.
S3: "Smith and Jones" is the best companion intro episode, period - it gets a ton of exposition out of the way economically and effectively and really got me liking Martha Jones. It also might be Davies' most tightly-plotted episode ever, bless his socks. And "Blink", as I said before, is an awesome self-contained story, one of the scariest things New Who has ever done, and is just very rewatchable. But the episode that made me go absolutely beserk at the time it aired was "Utopia", which had its flaws (those ridiculous Morlock villains!) but did some great things with the return of Jack and the introduction of the Master.
S4: A tie between "Planet of the Ood" and "Midnight". The former was just a really nicely done "everyday" episode that got in some fine acting moments for both Tate and Tennant and some moral thoughtfulness out of Ten, which was a tremendous relief for me at the time. "Midnight" looked like utter crap in previews, even with my beloved Lesley Sharp in there, but it turned out to be scary and effective as hell on what probably amounted to a shoestring budget. The "monster" was simply a great actress and some overworked sound editors being used to magnificent effect. That, for me, is what Doctor Who is about.
Can I count "The Runaway Bride" as an S2 episode and call it my favorite? Because it's far and away my favorite Christmas special and better than any of the episodes that season. It's Donna! Being brilliant! Really, does anything more need to be said?
Ooh, I forgot about "Midnight"! I absolutely adored that one! It reminded me of the classic Twilight Zone episodes. Very atmospheric and creepy.
Forgot to include "Partners in Crime" as a favorite. The scene where the Doctor and Donna see each other for the first time is priceless!!

I love this show. I don't remember when I got addicted but its been a long fun road since then. Was in London two weeks ago and went to The Who Shop in East Ham to buy a tshirt. since I live in the US it was nice to see a shop dedicated to this show.
I really need to start getting into Classic Who.
but my favorite episodes are in New Who Series 1 and 2 and there are too many to decide. Though "Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" are the most favorite in all.
Not too fond of 3 though "Blink" was absolutely amazing. and in 4, "Turn Left" and "Stolen Earth/Journey's End" were brilliant, amusing and slightly heartbreaking.
David Tennant is my Doctor. I love Christopher Eccleston equally. I'm holding my thoughts out on 11 until the 5th series premiere airs. Can't wait for the next special to get up on the internet!
Christopher Eccleston is my boo. I love him sfm.
I'm feeling in need of regeneration right about now----I started watching DW when Jon Pertwee was the Doctor. At that point, I lived in Buffalo NY, and they (the public station) ran DW M-F, and did a whole story arc on Saturday 4-6 pm (which was frequently a different Doctor than was playing during the week!) Then add in the Canadian stations we got, I was usually watching 3 different Doctors at the same time!
My favorite then was Peter Davison (#5) but I've loved all the Doctors for different reasons, and was devestated when the Beeb put the show on hiatus. When they brought it back, I was ecstatic! The production values are much better (but you have to love the cheesiness of the old episodes---they were cheesy even then, and all the more endearing for that!) and the two newest Doctors have been totally amazing in different ways. Because of my hisotry watching, I'm giving the new guy the benefit of the doubt---I haven't been disappointed yet! And "Blink" scared the daylights out of me---for a "Doctor Lite" episode, it was far better than most other episodes, any season Doctor Lite or not!
Sarah Jane is geared towards younger kids, DW is geared for all ages, and Torchwood is definitely geared towards adults. I had the pleasure of meeting Eve Myles a few weeks ago, and she is a hoot! I can't wait for the new (albeit shorter) season of Torchwood because the previews look great(though rumour has it that this is the end of Torchwood---at least for a while)
One of my prized possessions is a TARDIS bank with Peter Davison on it....
I don't get the reluctance or resentment towards hiring a younger guy to play The 11th Doctor. The Doctor has varied in age, with 1 and 3 being significantly older. I can't wait to start series 5.
I also really liked "Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead." I hope they follow through with the storyline of River Song.
I agree on both counts DD, besides the practical considerations of having a younger actor play the role I also think it fits the character that he spend this time, basically his middle age, as a younger man. And as 10 once said, "When I was young I acted like an older man, as one does when he is young."

I sincerely hope that Matt Smith is great, but I'm dubious about having a younger actor play the Doctor because for me, at least, the vast majority of actors under 35 or so have a really hard time conveying weight. Not physically, but the weight of having lived life, good and bad, and having a few wrinkles to show for it. The Doctor is obviously never going to look his age, but sometimes he needs to feel old. Tennant almost never put that across for me, even in the moments when he was explicitly supposed to, and now they're giving me someone even younger?
The other thing is that New Who has shown unfortunate ageist overtones, so casting the youngest Doctor ever was not a good way to reassure me that Moffat was going to change that up. I don't need a sexy Doctor, and even if I did, "sexy" doesn't have to mean twenty-something. I still find Eccleston very hot, and he was 40 when he took the role.
Also, aside from age, I'm freaking tired of the Ten era and ready for it to end, so I wasn't happy that the immediate impression of Smith is "tall skinny white dude with lots of hair" again. Obviously they can change that up with makeup, costuming, etc., but please oh please don't let Eleven be a rehash of Ten.
That said, Moffat's a smart guy who's written some excellent Who episodes and acted as a showrunner before, so I'm not flouncing off in a huff at the casting. :) Hopefully it'll all be brilliant and I'll be eating my words come next season.
I agree that there needs to be someone who can portray depth, weight of age, although I disagree completely with the idea that Tennant did not pull that off.
I am completely of the "withhold judgment" camp on Smith. I very much wanted an older doctor and admit I was disappointed in the direction. (although one of the funniest things to me I don't think of him as being particularly young, or even playing a "young" doctor, I think he plays a "playful" maybe even sometimes "childish" doctor which I don't personally attribute to age)
I do think it is entirely possible they can screw it up, or do a great job, but I have to see it first.
The Doctor is obviously never going to look his age

Nexttoelectric, call me with that when they have a computer generated golumdoby for an entire season.
