Hmmm. Interesting.

Also interesting is this interview with Neil Gaiman at WonderCon:

Do the links above contain any spoilers? Trying to avoid as many as possible whilst also reading everything I can find is getting tricky this close to transmission! re: Any Doctor Who Fans? *Spoilers*

Well, in the Gaiman interview he quotes his favorite line from the episode he wrote. The link before mine is just a picture.

Very sad to hear about the death of Lis Sladen, aged only 63. Met her once at the only convention I've attended and she could not have been lovelier. RIP

Such a shock to find the news on Twitter. I'm relatively new to the world of the Doctor, but I learned quickly about Sarah Jane and her role in the show's history. This is very sad news. re: Any Doctor Who Fans? *Spoilers*

A sad loss - The Sarah Jane Adventures were great when there was neither the Doctor nor Torchwood tbh. My sympathy to her husband and daughter.

They have been doing a Dr Who Marathon this weekend and I am a bit dizzy from all the time jumping.( the Doctor's and the episodes).

Was so saddened to hear about "Sarah Jane". Never another like her.

How about -- OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scary creatures, and Moffat is doing his level best, between Doctor Who and Sherlock -- to drive us all crazy. Amazing episode.

I wish it had concentrated more on telling its story rather than setting up 743 elements for a story clearly to be told in the future. I love continuity as much as the next girl - probably more - but I need something to make me care right now, not just lots of bits and pieces of stuff that will remain unexplained until later.

I love the cinematography and the actors and plenty of the jokes were funny, but the whole thing felt like a hot mess, which is what happens when your story is actually 80% prologue for something else.

(And I say this as a gleeful viewer of Veronica Mars, Fringe, and plenty of other shows that set up big mysteries and take joy in leaving stuff unexplained for weeks.)

The only emotional throughlines I'm seeing right now are:

1.The woe and sadness of River's affair with the Doctor, which, uh...I don't care about that much. Sorry, River. I like those two together more when they're having fun, but apparently this affair no longer has a happy middle - just lots of angsting about the end.

2. The excerable Doctor/companion/companion love triangle. I thought RTD firmly established that this is annoying and that Moffat dismissed it last season, but nooo, we had to have Rory being a creeper and listening in on his wife's conversations with another man. Not cool, Moffat.

It's not like this two-parter had nothing to enjoy. It just had...lots of fragments of enjoyable things, and a massive lack of follow-through. There are ways to set up a continuity-licious season without constantly calling attention to how very clever you are. I just hope that the rest of this season somehow makes this all seem to arise from character and coherent thematic work so I can eat my words.

I for one loved it ... the Silence are so friggin creepy.

Watching the special after they said something to the effect of questions planted in Series 1 will be answered/explained in this one. (was watching at 2 am so details are sketchy.)

Actually, I really liked how they did they. Hopefully my guess is right and that was them dealing with the love triangle (non)issue straight off bat before audiences started getting stupid about it. In any other show, Rory would have kept the eavesdropping secret and resentment and secrecy would fester. But they just said "stop eavesdropping" and "okay, but tell me next time you think you're pregnant, yes?", and that was that. Anyone who just tuned in for the first time or anyone who forgot last season got a handy little "yes, there was some insecurity, and the potential for some love triangulation, but this is the last you'll hear of it because it's not an issue now".

Lukewarm feelings about The Curse of the Black Spot.

And if this turns into a "Dallas" season (e.g. Amy's in a mental institution or something like that for the entire season and hallucinating the whole thing) I'm going to be so mad.

I liked it -- and Hugh Bonneville as Avery -- but it was a bit of a let down after the first two episodes. I saws a spoiler-free review for the upcoming episode written by Neil Gaiman -- titled "The Doctor's Wife" -- and the reviewer gave it five stars.

Finally was able to see "The Doctor's Wife" and while I think it was a great idea, I don't believe it was executed that well. There was just WAY too much going on and not too much explained. I love the messing of Amy's mind and the tender moments between the "tardis" and the Doctor. But, other than that, it seemed like a throwaway episode.

I truly disliked The Doctor's Wife the first time I saw it, but caught a rerun the next day and actually liked it much better.

I loved the first two episodes but I am not warming up to the rest of the season - it feels too Americanized. Oh yeah - the doctor dies in the future. Let's remember that every episode in case we forget. I can't help but think that previously it would not have been addressed again until it was resolved.

I think it's due to the split nature of this series; instead of it being a normal series, it looks like the constant reminders of the Doctor's forthcoming death and Schrodinger's time baby are being shoehorned into every episode to give it the feeling of an ongoing miniseries. It's working pretty clumsily, but should hopefully only be an issue for another three or four episodes. XD

I agree Weez, in the previous series model Moffat would probably be more subtle/leave it alone for the 'stand alone' eps but the new 2 part series needs it. Perhaps if the model remains it'll be more refined next time around.

I loved 'The Doctor's Wife' heck if the tardis were a person it would be a hot woman...enter Suranne Jones. Loved the use of 10's control room too and the messing with Amy's head. For me actually my favourite Matt Smith performance (across an episode) so far.
