"I remember having a make-your-own-perfume chemistry set...thing. I guess I was a girly nerd?"

My best friend had that and we played with that alot! You had to have perfume on for when you played "house" and Ponch (from CHiPs) who was your boyfriend, came over. Oh, sorry. I think I'm revealing too much information. *blush* re: Anyone Old Enough To Remember ...?

Oh man, there's so many good things to remember in this thread. Pong... I used to be really good at that.

Telephones that had neither a dial nor a touch pad. You picked up the receiver and waited a moment and the operator said, "Number, please" (Yup, I'm THAT old!)

Party lines on phones. Each household had a different "ring" to identify them. I remember a cousin had one, and when we'd visit, we would try to answer the phone when it rang. She had to remind us many times NOT to answer it - only on a certain ring (hers).

How about Spirodoodles.

I remember the fort and soldiers (my brother had one). I remember one Christmas that I got a barn and farm animals and my brother got a fort and soldiers (complete with stockade fence). My mother had made the buildings from old milk cartons and popsicle sticks. We didn't have much money back then, but those toys lasted the longest and were the best things to play with.

Elph, whenever I had solos in church or school, my awesome grandma would bring her big ol' reel to reel recorder!

Party lines! I grew up in Kansas, many people had party lines! You would pick up the phone and a neighbor would be on the line!

And, we only had to dial 4 numbers to make a phone call!!!!

Dolly -- did you have Party Line?

Back when I grew up (when 59th St. was called "the Sticks") you had to pick up the RECEIVER and listen to be sure no one else was already on the line.
