I had to look up who you were talking about. I think he's very cute! He's pretty buff, too, just the way I like 'em.

Posted: 2/10/08 at 7:00amHe's cute, but I could do without the tatoo(s). He has a new one on his back. How would I know; he's shirtless a lot on his design show.

Posted: 2/10/08 at 10:21amWhile initially cute to look at, he kinda bugs. He's not all that great as a 'TV Personality' and the whole tank top/shirtless sex sells gets old really fast. But then again, That's Showbiz!

Posted: 2/10/08 at 3:16pmYeah, the tattoos are questionable. But I like that he can be artistic without being annoying or inflexible; he actually designs for the customers instead of forcing a "vision" on them (like most design and makeover shows.)

Posted: 2/10/08 at 7:05pmHe should get a tattoo that says "Chelsea Bottom". A huge queen who would tend bar at Splash if it weren't for his show.

Yes, because interior design should stay what it always has been: a bastion of manly grunting and testosterone.

Posted: 2/10/08 at 8:02pmI guess the fact that the show is mentioned in the thread title somehow escaped you.

Posted: 2/10/08 at 10:07pmThe show is dull and his onscreen persona makes Carson Kressley look butch. What a cliche.

I think it's very refreshing. He isn't making "statements" or trying to be anything but himself. Obviously that isn't enough for certain judgmental people...

Posted: 2/11/08 at 11:49amHe certainly looked cute at this year's Folsom Street Fair decked out in leather. Then again, I don't think you're allowed to use the words "cute" and "leather" in the same sentence.

Posted: 2/11/08 at 12:41pmI think he's cute as a bug and I like his work, but he does swish his way through each episode.

I dont care for his design all of the time, and the custom "artwork" is always the same crappy painting...but I'm glad he is who he is and has his own show...it aint the worst one on HGTV!
That said, I LOVE the winner of Design Star this year (he won last year and got his own show, if you didnt know.)
Here they are together...
She's the one in the dress...Kim Myles.
Looking forward to her show! She was born to host.

That comment about his being a "Chelsea Bottom" was bottomphobic.
Bottomphobia is a curious combination of misogyny and self-hatred.
Using "bottom" as an insult is demonizing fellow gay men for being "feminine"--that's how it's misogynistic.
The only people who would use the phrase "bottom" as an insult are self-hating bottoms themselves. Tops wouldn't use it as an insult, versatiles wouldn't use it as an insult, and straight people wouldn't think to use it as an insult.
You can criticize David Bromstead for being vapid, you can criticize the show for being insubstantial, but criticizing the man for what you imagine to be his preferred sexual position is just creepy.

Fanny,
Is there ANYTHING besides dead people or folks that haven't worked in decades that makes you happy?
It's time to walk away from the early 70's.

As PJ notes, the implied loathing of "B.O.B.'s" as they are dubbed by the supposedly real-er men tops -- has always struck me as a unique internalized homophobia. Add it to the old 80s personal ad jargon, "no fats, no fems"
Yin needs yang. Put two "tops" together and what do you get? A scene out of every paneled family room in America on super bowl sunday. A d--k swinging contest without a winner.
Takes two to tango, and what fun is leading if your partner doesn't know how to follow?
