This was one of the best pilot episodes for a TV show that I have seen. I'm happy the song is number one on iTunes. You can also download the entire episode on iTunes...for free!
Really? I enjoyed it and fully intend to watch the show when it runs in the fall, but I thought the Pilot was fairly clunky and had a lot of issues with consistency. I understand the purpose of pilots and that you have to put a LOT of stuff into them since you're trying to sell the show, but I've definitely seen better pilots. With that said, I could see the talent and wit of the writing come through in spite of the awkwardness of the overall product and that's one of the things that pulled me in.

Posted: 5/22/09 at 12:37pmIt's interesting that they are doing an up-coming storyline where they bring in an older "ringer" because when I watched the pilot, there wasn't a person in the "rehab" number that looked under 25. I know it's a matter of economics, on-set teachers, limited hours, etc, but it always bugs me when people that are so obviously adults play high-schoolers.

I got around to watching it last night and loved it!
It's nice to see a show about kids that doesn't make them look stupid.

I found it entertaining...but isn't it simply a re-hash of Sister Act 2, without Whoopi Goldberg? Misfit kids, school trying to regain former musical glory, inspiring teacher, and a big competition where after much trial and tribulation, they will eventually come out the winner.
Still fun, but...

I loved it, too. Lea Michele was perfect and Matthew Morrison is gorgeous!

Ok, I didn't even think of this until someone mentioned it on Twitter, but didn't JOHN HILL (Bare) have a show he was going to do about a choir for MTV.. I think it was called Show Choir and I think this is the trailer:

I don't know about when, but I get the impression Fox are planning on semi-bombarding people with it over the summer so everyone'll be TOTALLY READY for it come autumn.
Failing that, there's always *koffbittorrentahem*.

At 2:35, the trumpet player looks freakishly like someone I know.
And I love that song. Except for the fact that the lip syncing makes me want to slam my head with a toaster.

Posted: 5/26/09 at 12:55pmI enjoyed it a bit more than I expected. The reformed jock joining the choir was a bit too reminiscent of American Pie, but overall, it was a strong pilot. I just hope they can find a way to sustain what should be a formulaic 2-hour film comedy into a series. I loved the a cappella underscoring. Gollywog's Cakewalk by Debussy is one of my favorite pieces of music. I grew up on the Tomita recording and played it on the piano for years.
