Are You Glad To See 2009 Go?
re: Are You Glad To See 2009 Go?#25
Posted: 12/30/09 at 5:46pmIt was the best year in that I was in an off-Broadway play, and from that got my Equity card and an agent. I also moved into an apartment in a very convenient location, with no roommates. However, everything else about it made it one of the worst years as well. I too look forward to 2010 although it's only a change of date.

Posted: 12/30/09 at 6:03pmYes, But I did make it to Broadway...Saw Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Angela Lansbury, Tovah Feldshuh and the Great Estelle Parsons all in five nights...but I am looking foward to 2010

Hell yeah!
09 was both a dud & a downer. I learned an hour ago that a colleague and close friend passed away losing her lengthy battle with cancer.

When I think of 2009, I can't help but think of so many people who died--both famous and that I knew personally. So for that, I'm ready for a new year.
Congrats, Rath.

In 2009, I moved to NYC to start my acting career, signed with an agent, book three shows, and the third got my equity card. Personally, i've become much better with money paying off a significant amount of my credit card debt, and lost about 20 lbs ever since I started running in June.
So, if 2009 was a craptacular year, I can't wait for Friday.

Posted: 12/30/09 at 7:03pmThis decade just sucked in general and 2009 started off well enough and then went down the drain in a quick like fashion. I hope next year/decade is better *crosses fingers*

Congrats Rathnait! I'm so excited for you.
Btw, spiderdj, this decade sorta sucked for me too. My grandpa passed away in 2002 and I have been thinking a lot about him. And my grandmother has been really sick ever since he died. I've been taking good care of her a lot since I've moved in with her.

Congrats, Rath and Sing!

ilovecioff- I'm so sorry to hear that
This past decade I got married, got a divorce, lost two jobs, had to move in with the parentals, was hospitalized, etc. Yup, not going to miss 2000-2009 at all

For me 2009 started out OK, stayed OK through the summer and ended up being a pretty good year. Finally managed to close on my condo, love owning a place finally!
Designed and built successful off Broadway show that was chosen as one of the 10 best by the Times. Managed to stay healthy. All in all a good year. The aughts have seen a lot of changes for the better in me.

Posted: 12/30/09 at 9:03pmI'd have to ad the the aughts have been a tremendous period of growth for me. Granted, I went to high school and college this past decade, so it stands to reason.

Posted: 12/30/09 at 9:28pmI try to avoid wishing my life away - time moves quickly enough as it is. I simply hold tightly to that which was good, learn from what didn't quite work the way I had hoped, and move on - with no expectation or regret.

Posted: 12/30/09 at 9:43pmThis hasn't been the best year for me, but it wasn't terrible. And I know my financial worries won't magically disappear in 2010, so I'm still not excited to greet a new year.

Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm no Pollyanna, so bear with me here a moment.
Every bad thing that has happened to me has led, directly or in-, to something positive--at the very least knowledge. (Which is not to say you have to like the bad stuff.)
So, 2009, you were what you were. Here's hoping for good things in 2010.

Knowledge, as they say, is power. I think your perspective is great, Reg.
And, Happy New Year!

I can't scream yes any louder
I would say something, Zeppy, but this is a family board
Personally, I am ready for the new year. 2009 has pretty much sucked and Im looking forward to better things and new beginnings. Im trying to find a new job, I met a nice guy... and I know who and what I plan on leaving in 2009. I feel good about the coming year!
