re: Are You a Good Person?

That creeps me out as much as the scientology tests.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

I thought this was a joke while taking it, and then I realized they're actually being serious..wow.

I can't believe I just wasted my time with that.

Honey, I've had my place reserved in h-e-ll for ages. re: Are You a Good Person?

I have a hunch I'll be in pretty good company.

(and, for those reading this thread - don't think the intro of Here. Laugh. has anything to do with the content of the link... I kept waiting for the punch line, until I realized that there wasn't going to be one.)

That was awfully anticlimactic!

My favorite part was the question asking if we've ever looked upon another with lust in our lives.

re: Are You a Good Person?

When I didn't have cable, I saw Kirk talking about the exact same thing on his religious show. It doesn't really bother me. Religion isn't the worst thing to delve in to.

re: Are You a Good Person?

I kept on waiting for the punchline as well.

re: Are You a Good Person?

It’s not that I have anything against religion. But, the impression that I get from these kinds of things is that they want you to believe that you can’t possibly be a truly happy, fulfilled and kind-hearted person if you don’t attend church on Sunday and don’t read the Bible, or if you don’t go to their meetings and read their pamphlets, or whatever they’re pushing.

I'm sorry, but I can count so many contradictions from that. That's exactly why I don't think organized religion is such a good thing...

Ok, maybe I chose my words a little too carefully, but I
wanted to make sure I didn't offend anyone. re: Are You a Good Person?

Well. That was about the creepiest thing I've ever read. Heaven must be pretty empty right now with their impression of what you have to do to get up there.

re: Are You a Good Person?

Well, that left me with a warm fuzzy feeling inside (note the sarcasm). Now, I'm a Christian and found this thing really kind of mean. Way to make someone a believer, tell them you're a bad person and going to hell. Not the smartest thing to say.

Yes, I'm pinay. And I'm proud of it!

re: Are You a Good Person?

I understand that it is a bit pushy, there is no denying that. I guess I just meant that I would rather see someone hung up on the bible than on crack, and whatever. I believe in most of what the bible says, but I also realize that it is not God's intention that we follow it to the letter. However, obviously Candace and her brother see things in a much different way.

re: Are You a Good Person?

Religion is a very good thing, IN THEORY. Most religions are simply based on just trying to be a good person. But what I don't like about organized religion (especially Western religion) is that they ALL say that unless you follow that specific religion to the 'T,' then you're going to Hell. I do like on South Park how the actual only ones in Heaven are Mormans, though!

BTW, I don't know if this was a Catholic thing, but if it is, I like how they say "there is no purgatory," when the Catholic church JUST decided on that about a month ago, so as (to attempt) to make Baptizing(sp?) children more popular in southern Africa, where babies very often die early on. Somehow, I don't think it will work too well. A shame, since they changed the beliefs of millions of people worldwide for it.

hahahahahaha

{p.s. i think christianity without the aggression is a beautiful thing, and there are many aspects of it that i admire and wish to adopt or at least understand and respect. but since it seems that it cannot exist in our society as we know it without these implications of heavy repercussions and such, i'll stick to paganism for now, thanks.}

on a related note: anybody read god against the gods by jonathan kirsch? i want to buy it.
