Posted: 1/27/05 at 12:30amI don't think they're using her show to cover the SNL thing up at all. It is obvious that Ashlee can't sing - her family knows it, her band knows it, her vocal coach knows it, SHE knows it, and all of America knows it. If they wanted to cover up the fact that she has no vocal talent, they wouldn't have shown her last season singing off key at Jessica's concert, they wouldn't have shown her shrieking during sound checks (at the Knitting Factory and Jay Leno,) and they surely wouldn't have showed her getting into arguments with her father about how he can't sing her first single live, so she better figure out a way to do it. Would I pay money to go see her live? No way. But I do own her CD and I think she has the best recorded sound of any of the pop "stars" today. What she did was fresh and her CD brought a new sound to music that we haven't heard in a while that's now being mimicked by Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff. I really REALLY enjoy her CD - she's a major guilty pleasure.

Need I remind all of you of these inspiring words from 'Joyoussinger03' in the previous thread that dared defile the talent that is Ashlee Simpson.

All this bad mouthing, petition trashing things that y’all are doing to this poor girl is y’all expect her to be perfect. For your information a lot of singers uses voice over when they have doctors orders or they are too sick to sing but those are the singers who put there fans before there own health. Those are the singers I have the up most respect for and I hope that others take after them too."

Posted: 1/27/05 at 9:54amNo, I actually agree with Munkustrap - very few of today's pop stars can sing live anyway. She is one of the best of the recorded voices, and her CD is really good and refreshingly different from all the "little girl"-sounding young women.

Posted: 1/27/05 at 1:23pmThe one thing I don't like about her is that she is a poser. She tries to put forth the image of "bad ass rocker chick" when it is so obvious that she isn't. Maybe i'll believe it when she gets some tattoos or piercings and gets addicted to smack or something.....

Posted: 1/27/05 at 1:30pmha. Nope. I really don't feel she's trying to be a badass rocker chick. She's just a rock musician, where as most other young women these days are pop. It's just her musical style. Avril, on the other hand...she's a good singer, and an okay writer, but ick. The attitude.

Also, you're deeming her a "poser." Anyone who uses the word "smack" shouldn't be calling ANYONE a poser...

I personally think she is a poser. And I think the SNL thing was just plain dumb... because it's not the SNL's fault. Everyone on SNL sings, and why would they have Ashlee's CD in their stereo on the song she was going to sing? it just doesn't make sense, and it proves that she was trying to lip sync on SNL. That just doesn't happen.
And I don't think she can sing, and her "road to success" was the lamest thing. She didn't even have to try that hard, and she made it through her sister. It doesn't matter that they chose different "genres" to sing in... Ashlee still made it through her sister.

Say what you want about her voice and the lyrics (which, at times, are admittedly amatuerish), but I would think twice about insulting the music to her songs. ALL of her songs on "Autobiography" are, musically, very well written.
In fact, I doubt that most of the people on this thread have even heard her CD. Her singles on the radio ("Pieces of Me", "Shadow", and "LaLa") are the weakest tracks on her album. Listen to "Surrender", "Unreachable", "Better Off", "Love Me for Me", and "Nothing New". Much better than what's on Z100.
