Asian guys - hot or not?

Okay, I'm a young, Asian gay man and I've had a lot of trouble meeting non-Asian men. So I have a question: do you find Asian men attractive? (I won't be offended if you don't, because....well, I don't find Asian men attractive either.)

Seems to me the only people who are interested are guys who have some sort of Asian fetish - guys who eat and cook Asian food, speak more Chinese than I do, wear Buddhist trinkets and live in Chinatown. Their interest in me lies in me fulfilling some Asian fantasy of theirs, rather than liking me for me. It's very frustrating. Anyone else encounter this problem with their own ethnicity/background?

I like Asian guys, but I'm a straight girl, not a gay guy so I don't know how much that helps you.

Me? Too much emotional and cultural baggage. I don't want to deal with another Asian mother. One is more than enough, thank you very much.

Don't flame me for this opinion, but I find that Asian women have that Asian men don't enjoy (if "enjoy" is the right word). There's so much sexual exoticism that is placed on Asian women that aren't placed on the men. For example, how many "Asian-male with Asian-female" or "Asian-male with Asian-male" have you seen, compared to "Asian-female with Asian-male"? (Even my sister is dating a white man. But I can't seem to find one [or any other non-Asian male] for the life of me.)

In the gay community, the only men I seem to find are way-older guys looking for a shy, supple Asian youth, or again, those guys with Asian fetishes who want to add me to their mantle. It's rough!

Blue Wizard, I really don't find Asian men attractive- and I am part Asian-American.

I don't know why, I guess it's the way that most of them are brought up in that culture. My mother was from the Philippines, and married a European man. My other relatives want me to get married to a nice Asian, but I'm totally following in the footsteps of my mother. Not to be racist (against my own race too, yikes!), but most of the Filipino men I know are incredibly chauvinistic and- well, it's not my type of culture. It's really too long to explain how they are.

I have met exceptions, but almost all of them were gay. One is in a relationship.

I find some asian men attractive...sorry straight female here so I don't know if my oppinion counts but I figure I'd comment anyway! My roomate however LOVES asian men and it has nothing to do with asian fetishes or anything. She just finds them very attractive!

I guess the lack of people chiming in in this thread means that other gay men really aren't attracted to Asian guys, and are just too nice and PC to say so.

(And strangely enough, the hottest Asian man I've seen is actually a cartoon: the hunky and chiseled Shang, from Disney's Mulan ).

I am a straight woman but Asian men are very handsome.
My last employer (who was a dream to work for) is Korean.
He is very attractive but he was my boss so that is where it ended.
He is over 6'3 and very attractive. And the best boss I ever had.
But if he was not my boss in the past i would have dated him.
He is a friend now.

Actually I'm a straight Chinese female, and to be honest, I don't find Asian men very attractive, but I think it's more to do with a subconscious rebellion against being surrounded by so many Asians in my family, etc. (It doesn't help that I live in Vancouver, BC to boot - aka "Chinatown") But there are a few Asians I find attractive - esp. whatshisname from Fast and the Furious. Damn!

There was a newspaper article in the Vancouver Sun a few months ago that talked about the trend for white men and Chinese woman to date, but not the other way around. They called the white men "Rice Kings" and the Chinese women "Wonderbread Queens."

But buck up, BlueWizard. I think the Asian fetish is just becoming more popular (esp. with ppl like Lucy Liu and half the cast of Kill Bill/Crouching Tiger/blah blah blah becoming more popular...and that guy from Fast and the Furious). :)

I'm a straight Chinese American female and I don't find Asian men any less attractive than men of other ethnicities. I've never dated an Asian man, but I've never dated anybody, so there you go. I could probably identify in some cultural ways more with an Asian man, although I'm monolingual and I don't consider a Chinese accent (nor fobbyness or rice rockets) attractive.

One of my best friends is gay (and white). His current and apparently permanent partner right now is Filipino. Of his past boyfriends, I believe two have been white, two have been Asian, and one has been Latino. Another of my best friends is also a gay white male, and his past boyfriends have all been Asian or Latino. So there ya go.

Some people are hot outside. Some are hot inside. Some are too inhibited, insecure, afraid or just too messed up to let their true hotness show. You get to pick which you are.

Are all Asian guys hot? Let's see -- start with the Asian part of Istanbul, jump over Siberia but include all of the former Soviet republics (the current -stan countries). Throw in the Himalayan countries, and go all the way over to the Pacific Ocean picking up Mongolia, China and Japan. Move down to South Asia (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh) and Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Burma). Spread your arms wide and encompass those nations right up to Australia: the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia. What do you got? A grand total population of 1.85 BILLION MEN.

Then include the Asian diaspora: the immigrants to the North America, Britain and Australia and New Zealand. And don't forget South America -- remember, the former president of Peru was of Japanese descent. There are 2.3 MILLION MEN of Asian descent in the United States: one is the governor of Washington State; another is the senior Senator of Hawaii.

So, are they all hot? Yup.

As I tend to go for guys with copious amounts of chest fur, I don't generally find smooth guys (and 99% of Asian guys are VERY smooth) all that sexually attractive - no matter how buff they are.
