OMG how could I forget that GAWD AWFUL piece of rubbish Prom Night? Just once can a black girl live in the damn movie? Of course we're there for comic relief, snappy comebacks and quips...but just once could we make it to the closing credits?!

I enjoyed the eye candy, but that's about it.
What about Beverly Hills Chihuahua?
I didn't see it, but I heard it was pretty bad.

Posted: 2/1/09 at 1:50amI'm pretty sure this was 2008, 88 Minutes is possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. The Happening was also pretty poor. I didn't really care for Rachel Getting Married, but there are definitely worse movies this year. Oh, and Hamlet 2 was awful.

I liked Rachel Getting Married. Reminded me (somewhat) of some of my own family's OTT get togethers. I agree tho, that all the music sequences thru the wedding were interminable.
(oh an my Al-Anon blackbelts said the basic premise was fake- no one in a residential 12 step program would be allowed a weekend pass-esp w/o supervison- when they are so far from completing the program.)

I couldn't possibly list what I thought was bad.
Let's put it this way, I can count those that I actually enjoyed on one hand - and have fingers left over.

Posted: 2/1/09 at 10:24amI just saw Mamma Mia... well, about half of it. I had to stop watching it after about an hour. I was getting a headache from all of the forced 'glee.' Not one of the worst movies I've EVER seen, but one of the worst I've seen this year-- plus, I've never actually seen the stage musical, so I can't say if I think it's better or worse.

Redundant:The Day the Earth Stood Still
Not Redundant (but we're all thinking it):High School Musical 3.I refused to pay to see it;I sent my sister in to tell me what happens to Ryan

Posted: 2/1/09 at 12:46pmI liked HSM3. I have no idea why, since I didn't like Mamma Mia and I generally hate pop-style music and I really dislike most of the cast. I thought the choreography and costumes were great.

Posted: 2/1/09 at 12:49pm(off-topic) I liked the first and the second (I didn't think I'd like the second but was forced to watch it in chorus until I enjoyed it) Although Ryan is really the only character I care about.

Posted: 2/1/09 at 12:59pmRACHEL GETTING MARRIED was exquisite. I don't know who Mankiewicz is, but I can't take him seriously if he honestly thought it was one of the year's worst movies.

I have to agree with Taz on Prom Night and Hamlet 2. Awful, both of them. Mamma Mia! was pretty painful, as well.
Side note: HSM3 was actually not that bad. I'm not remotely their target audience, and I think the first two are tragic, but this one actually had some genuinely...dare I say it...cool moments.

Wow. I was watching Rachel Getting Married on a screener and after about half hour I shut off the machine and chose another film. It wasn't my night, because then I tried to watch Mamma Mia!
