I would not consider Georgia On My Mind to be country.
Always On My Mind is - as sung by Nelson.
Willie has a "Georgia on my Mind" that is very country.
I hope Kitz picks something from BIG RIVER.
I notice that Marlene and Diva have joined the "breast parade."
Georgia On My Mind as sung by Nelson is still country. But it needs to be the country track, not Charles.
And Always On My Mind is too, obviously if it's as if sung by Nelson.
Any takers? JAC? Spidey? Link? (NO RIFFS! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO RIFFS ON WILLIE NELSON!) Anyone?
Problem with BIG RIVER is that there are no backing tracks to be found. Find me one, and you'll be my BFF.
When you guys come see Jerby: Fully Loaded in a couple of months, you will see that ANY song can be made to sound C&W! lol
Some only work for humor though.

I think Kitz would totally rock with "How Do I Live", despite how over-played it used to be. I think it's a gorgeous song (TRISHA! Booo, Leann).
I have my fingers crossed for SOMEBODY to do a Garth Brooks song. ANY Garth Brooks song...
I vote for a No Broadway Rule on this round.
Like "Bootylicious"?

I. Love. It. SOMEONE tell Tanya Tucker to cover "Bootylicious"! PLEASE!
edit: Actually, Bootylicious could work LOLOLOLOL Just singing through it and it sounds fun!
But you can't argue that BIG RIVER doesn't equal country. It's just about the only country music I can stand.
I was actually leaning toward "Breathe" or "Goodbye Earl."
I just don't have time to learn and become comfortable with a new song for this round.
This is BROADWAY WORLD IDOL if there is a "no broadway" rule, I will have a fit to make BSo's seem like an ice cream sundae.
I know "Breathe"! Do "Breathe"! I know any Faith Hill, Leanne or Shania song that has been played on pop stations. And someone should do "I've Got Friends In Low Places" just for a gas.
I agree with JerseyGirl though - I'd rather not have any "country" from Broadway. It wasn't even my rule to have Broadway as an option for every week eithier.
ETA: Those be fighting words, sp78! Thank GOD I've got the first post, sucka!

Here's your one chance, Fancy, don't let me down...
Pengers is getting riled up. Me lo gusta.
Well, there IS Urban Cowboy, Whorehouse, Big River, The Robber Bridegroom and now Ring of Fire to name a few that are/have C&W music.
Word, JG2!
And Kitz, I know you know some country. LeAnn, Dixie Chicks, SOMETHING.
Yes, you just get pissed off fans. I love the contest, but I am sick of this "pop" sh*t.
JFTR, Limewire only has the Ray Charles or synthesized (read: non-country) karaoke for Georgia. But I still maintain that if someone sings it in a country style, the accompaniment is irrelevant.
I will pay someone to sing Honky Tonk Badonkadonk by Trace Adkins. That song KILLS me. It's a country song about the ASS! I mean, look at the chorus:
That honky tonk badonkadonk
Keepin' perfect rhythm
Make ya wanna swing along
Got it goin' on
Like Donkey Kong
And whoo-wee
Shut my mouth, slap your grandma
There outta be a law
Get the Sheriff on the phone
Lord have mercy, how'd she even get them britches on?
That honky tonk badonkadonk
That is some talented writing.
hahaha do you like my avatar, SP?
Let me spell it out for you: YES I live in Kansas. But I HATE COUNTRY. And I stopped listening to Top 40 when the Backstreet Boys went out of vogue.
I listen to Billy Joel, Elton John, Ben Folds, and theatre. That's IT.
Hence, don't know much country.
*insincere tear in sp78's direction* First week was freestyle. This week was pop/rock. Next week is country. And the only people making it pop are the contestants. I wish people would branch out. I wanted a blues/jazz theme that was ix-nayed.
I moved away from Georgia partially so I would not have anymore exposure to the stuff. I know how you feel Kitz.
Diva, it is cool.
Blues/jazz would be awesome!
