As an outsider, I have found that BWW is littered with a number of cliques. Which makes it quite hard for a newbie to jump in - which as a result has meant that I've been lurking for some time.
There are so many, where to begin?
The adults - the people who log in at work, and spend all day on BWW. They think they are slightly superior...like, Robbiej, Suleen, Rathnait62, Finding Namo, NYadgal etc.
The wise men - DGrant, MargoChannig...they are worshipped, and revel in their glory.
The artsy peeps - Gleeb, popcultureboy, Nyadgal, kissmycookie...they are slighty odd, but they seem to be popular.
The Adam wierdos - luvtheemcee, insomniak, etc. - get a lofe.
But the WORST little clique has to be the stupid Bitches thread. Tiff, BaST, CameraAngel, Ellie3, ShubertAlley35, etc. They think they're so witty and clever when actually YOURE NOT. Especially Tiff and Ellie3 - they can barely stand each other appartently, yet they never stop talkingg - if you don't like each other - stop talking to each other, simple.
perhaps it is your attitude that "makes it quite hard for a newbie to jump in" I consider myself a newbie, even though I joined Jan of 2004, it's only been the past two weeks I've been back. I've had no problem jumping in. lighten up, join the fun
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...

Oh, honey. We'd hardly agree with the slams geared toward us. Cute, though.
Oh, and of course the newbie who hates the community he's trying to get into isn't going to be accepted. Get over yourself. You're so observant, watching, and telling ME to get a life? Heh.
Well, I've been around a long time, and I don't believe I'm considered part of any "clique" nor would I consider myself part of one. Just as people in "real: life form groups of friends, this is all they're/we're doing. I like to spend my time joining in on threads I enjoy, and when I find one that I really enjoy (ala the Bare cast thread awhile back) I spend the majority of my time there. These people in your so called "cliques" are just doing that. I can't fault them for spending their time talking to the people they enjoy talking to, nor do I find it exclusive. I've also never felt excluded from any conversation. Parallels to real life--do you always feel included in every conversation around you? No, nor should you. I echo Elphaba's sentiment--lighten up and join in.
Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our fingers through the flame?
Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain?

Princeton and I already have a room, but thanks for thinking of us.
Now c'mon, fess up. Who are you? Rosie?
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."
Maybe he was saving me for the infinitely superior one. Ooh, can I be in that one too? Or maybe MEF and I can start a "I went/go to a small liberal arts college in VT" clique. Of course, it would just be the two of us...

What's the point of trying to become part of a community by putting down it's members. Especially someone like Addy... hello!
I don't think I'm part of any clique, really, though I tend to gravitate towards the same people. I chat with whoever, and ignore the posts that bug me... though for some reason couldn't stay away from this one.
