She's only in 3 scenes - very ez money for her.

Only saw "Meet The Fockers" once - when it first came out. It was ok.........not my cup of tea - bathroom humor.

But, she got a big paycheck for the first one. She's a smart business woman.

Her "Love Like Ours" cd from last Fall debuted at #1, her North American 2006 concert, that came out on dvd last year, debuted at #1, and remained there for 3 weeks. It became the #1 selling music dvd of last year. And, her Village Vanguard concert dvd from September of last year, debuted at #1.

And, her book "My Passion For Design" comes out in November. Not bad for a 68 year old woman.

No, I didn't see her paycheck for "Fockers." Every year "Forbes" magazine has their yearly highest paid entertainers issue, and Barbra was included on that yearly list, as she usually is every year. Her salary, profit participation and residuals from dvd/cable, etc on "Meet The Fockers" was $12 million.

So, why won't she direct or work more? Lazy or just doesn't want to? Yeah, I know she has nothing to prove to anyone but still,I can't help think there is at least one other GREAT movie/performance left in her.

She's in 3 scenes, would only be shot from her good side and from the boobs up. It was in her contract. No full body shots. Very easy money. She's not making films where she is the star because she is too vain.

She did the Focker movies for FUN. No other reason. It's not an "important" role or film, and it didn't pay her that much (even if she was relatively well-paid, she doesn't need the money). She doesn't have to carry the movies. It's a small, supporting role (in this case not much more than a cameo).

I'm glad she got out there and had a good time, playing on a movie set, and working with talented people. Something to do on a Thursday, ya know? Other than sit around the house.

Now, if she would only record an album of songs just for fun, and stop making those drippy, echoey, syrupy, over-produced, touchy-feely, crappy dirges that all sound exactly the same. Like they were recorded in a controlled fish bowl in 1989.

I'd love for her to just sing songs for the hell of it, instead of trying to be "important" and "make a difference" all the time (and failing at both).

At least with her film career, she lightened up. And I find that refreshing.

I just like watching Neal get all bent out of shape when anyone points out how lazy she is.

And those albums have been awful. She doesn't appeal to anyone but her OLD fans anymore.

Didn't she and Dustin Hoffman get the only praise from the previous film? I do remember watching it and aside from the line delivery of 'asshole' by the baby, I kept on waiting for more Babs and Dustin. They seemed like the only people having fun in the movie.

I agree, Strummer.

But, obviously, Ms. Streisand should be making decisions based on others' needs, not her own - even though that seems to have stead her well in her multi-decade career.

Which, I guess is all for naught, as there are those who would have done it differently.

Not done it differently themselves, mind you, as they probably couldn't. but she should have done it the way they would have, because they know what counts for her and what doesn't.

Who can't love "Prisoner" by Barbra back in the day? I think it sounds like the better songs from CARRIE the musical. So over the top, so seventies...I think it may be the best of her seventies work and that includes "The Way We Were"!

Speaking of EYES OF LAURA MARS...with remake-mania taking over Hollywood these days, why hasn't someone propositioned a remake? The original had good ideas but didn't quite come together. Maybe it would now! Of course it wouldn't have Faye's killer gams or Helmut Newton's creative input...and lets not even talk about that awesome movie poster. But who knows? Maybe the Gaga or Beyonce could do a tricked up cover of "Prisoner" and Angelina Jolie could star...what do you think?

Tell us all how she's been lazy. Fflagg, seems to be under the impression that because she's married that she's lazy. Trying to follow the logic on that one.

What difference does it make if her fan base is old or young, or in between? How does that change anything?

What she has accomplished in the last year - as I've all ready posted, most performers can't ever accomplish that.

Am I the only one that loved "Meet the Fockers"? It's IMO one of the funniest movies ever, but then again I'm a sucker for potty humor.

I enjoyed it - not my favorite film or Barbra film. Potty humor just isn't my cup of tea. I got the dvd when it first came out, so I can add it to my Barbra collection of dvds.

Josh Brolin is gorgeous! And, very, very nice. I used to work at a hotel in Century City, and when he had his tv series in the early 90's that was filmed at 20th Century Fox. He stayed at the hotel quite frequently and would checkin still in costume - dressed up as a western/cowboy and was always very nice.

I just think it's silly to call Barbra lazy. I do agree to a large extent with Besty's critique of her albums over the past ten years. But just because she isn't producing the amount of work she did for the first couple of decades of her career doesn't mean she's lazy. Maybe she's just a bit tired, and wants to concentrate on her hobbies rather than her career like her "passion for design" no matter how silly that may seem to some.

Why then does Meryl Streep continue to work?

We are talking about making a f**king film not building a hospital. How much work is it to memorize a script and act for a few weeks/months?

Barbra is lazy; how many films has she directed? Three over the course of 28 years.

The "crazies" who think BS does no wrong are mostly gay men with no lives whose fantasies about BS are about as faded as their rainbow flags.

I'm missing something here. Is there a contract somewhere that says she must make x amount of films during her lifetime and she's being lazy about fulfilling that agreement?
